Leeds at Home

Definitely should be being done privately.

Who knows what discussions prior to the fixtures being released were, but it’s not a coincidence that we are away (as we always are) on Airshow weekend and that both games against Southampton are midweek dates.
They are also the only 2 midweek games all season. With the 6 week gap for the World Cup I expected more midweek dates

I don't think it is pathetic or embarassing from the trust to question this fixture being on a May bank holiday weekend.
30 years ago, kids and women were being beaten up by Leeds fans. Shops and business' were destroyed by thousands of hooligans. Today there are loads of things on social media that glorify this :poop:.
Rather than take the pi$$, there should be some reflection on their part. If it was us, I would be ashamed and not have a go at some fans for wanting the fixture to be rescheduled in light of what happened in the past.
It could be a massive game like in the past, when both teams needed to win to secure a place in a higher division.
Hopefully both sets of supporters have and can move on. It just needs a massive police presence. if there is any trouble I would guess it will more likely be in the pubs, at the beach (if there is decent weather) and not in the stadium.

Pitiful from the CT, no reason at all to think that Leeds fans would act any differently next season that they have the last few times they've been down

tbh I rather hope the game goes ahead and Leeds trash the town again, it would just remind the nation just what a bunch of scrotes the "minority" (copyright just about every Leeds fan who comments on that weekend) of Leeds fans are.

It wasn't a minority and they were proper Leeds fans.

And yes, I've got a fucking long memory.

So, do we think the CT would have complained had it been on any other given Saturday?

That's in the realms of the hypothetical but going from a dark winter midweek to (likely) sunny bank holiday, i.e. identical conditions to 1990 seems a big jump to me.

Ultimately, perhaps I'm a fool but I'd trust the police to organise adequate security.

It's a total embarrassment ! One day after the fixtures are announced FFS. We should welcome every team to Dorset, to Bournemouth and Dean Court and treat them as we would expect to be treated when we visit them. For this to happen 30+ years after that particular match is pathetic and the person who raised is pathetic. Get a frickin life and move in. Times have changed, football has changed . Every team has its c0ck supporters but the vast majority as well behaved. I don't like Leeds but jeez let them come , enjoy themselves in our local area and have a good game of footie. I really do wonder how some people manage to get through the days of their life sometimes.

It doesn't sound like you're doing a very good job of moving on tbh.

As you quite rightly say - 30 years ago - (well actually 32). Time to move on.

Leeds have played at our place a few times since then without issue. Given the upturn in fan issues combined with media attention however then this might escalate if idiots take an interest.

Seems an easy risk to avoid to be honest and you would think police would want to avoid home bank holiday matches given how stretched they are at this time of year.

Evening kick offs and no bank holidays go a long way of preventing any trouble.

Walking with my young son across Kings Park and our car park that day between a stand off of police with riot shields and Leeds fans was pretty scary.

Here we are worrying about the potential for traveling football fans causing trouble and damage to the place. I'd be more concerned about the actual state of the place for example this morning, right now.

After such good weather yesterday the town centre, gardens and beaches etc are awful. Litter booze food and discarded belongings everywhere. It looks like a zombie rabble has past through.

I feel for the handful of council workers trying to fix it currently, before it probably gets done over again this weekend.

This happens most summer weekends, although i think this morning looks worse than usual. Far worse than during the football season. Perhaps football lads drinking in the pubs and singing a few songs leave less behind them.

The seagulls and rats do ok out of it I suppose.

Moan over :)

Like they did at Dean Court?
The vast majority of the trouble was BEFORE the match that they won.

i do wonder how many of those saying on here to ‘move on’ were actually at the game and in the town that weekend. It was absolutely horrific. Leeds fans of today still have a reputation. Just because it was 32 years ago doesn’t mean something similar couldn’t happen again, albeit maybe not in such a serious way

You were the one who mentioned the result!

Of course it could happen again.

Very surprised that May bank holiday was chosen for the game, hence the original post, but the reaction from the CT is way over the top. And to state “it can’t happen” is just embarrassing.

If there are concerns then discuss it behind the scenes, doing it in public and making wildly OTT comments on twitter just removes any credibility the trust may have had, and makes the whole club look a laughing stock.

Yes Rob, of course it could happen again so remove any possibility by simply not holding this game on a Bank Holiday Weekend.

If Leeds are struggling and we receive them on the arranged date....there will be more trouble even..than in 90...and if We are involved with them in a relegation battle..f√ck me ..that will be worse still .
Anyone who can't see that needs their head read !
But this is 'Afcb'. Forum...and naivety is, as i've mentioned before, at a premium.

Agreed! I'm sure the police at the time said they would never allow another home game on a bank holiday weekend...and we had to suffer that during the 90's and 00's.
