What’s going on in the boardroom?

A number of clubs are bringing in signings from abroad, Brighton seem to do this plus a good number of others, fees seem a bit lower than in UK.

But if you look back to our signings, most have come from within the UK.

We are supposed to have a foreign scout, so will we see a signing from abroad?
Well I'm available on a free ! ;)

When Richard Hugh’s came in a lot was made of his Italian connections if I remember rightly .

There is plenty of Talent in Britain ...masses of it in Scotland alone....Inverness produced McDougall.

....most of the aspirational, albeit misguided, Foreigners see Boscombe or Brighton as a step...a stop off.. ..on the way to Old Trafford or Anfield.....they read the f√cking Sun for Fun.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we don’t need a couple of centre backs at the bare minimum. I think the conflict is either wanting them here yesterday or spending £100m to do it.
Well I admit to not keeping up on the cost of players but would've thought we can get a couple of half decent ones for hopefully a lot less than that. I appreciate you may have been exaggerating for effect.

The £100m is just a reference to the premier league tv income for the first season. It’s also about the figure that Forest have spent which is a reference to why this thread started.

I’m sure we will sign a couple of centre backs before the window closes and I’d be very surprised if we spend anything in excess of £20-25m.

I think Scott Parkeris hoping to get one of the Liverpool centre backs, just waiting to see which player Klopp may let go either permanently or on loan.

Wouldn’t at all surprise me if we get both.

Maybe, Klopp was asked who will be going out on loan or permanently, answer I don’t know.

This was after he said he didn’t expect anymore incomings at Liverpool.

So as mentioned above, he is weighing up his options for the coming season.

Let’s be honest spunking 10’s of millions up against the wall isn’t going to get us challenging for top six . We’re in for a season of struggle regardless of weather or not we bring in an extra couple of defenders .
Hopefully we’ll get a couple of really good loanees and after that we only have to be better than three other teams .
As for more clarity from the board . When has that ever happened . Not in my lifetime unless they’re having to beg the fans for money .
Post of the day.

Yes, once again this forum splits into two polar camps where anyone asking for investment in the team is asking for 100m to be spunked aimlessly at foreign clubs to assemble a disparate bunch of mavericks at the expense of a training ground. There is a middle area where we add to a strong squad with three solid defenders at moderate prices.
I'm not so sure 3 solid defenders come at moderate prices to a newly promoted PL club these days.

They don't.

Everyone seems to be looking for good CBs at the moment.

The problem is that in this market you have to spend a shed load of money to get perm signings or a smaller shed load to get a loan. You also have to convince a decent player that he really wants to spend a season battling relegation because that will do his career a world of good.

So you pay more money, or buy a CB who is 'too old','not ready' or 'has a mistake in him'.

then you get people on here moaning that our recruitment team is poor when the said CBs aren't immediately at one with Kelly.

In short, there is no pleasing some people.
