I think we are meaning a traditional midfielder as opposed to the Brooks, Traore, Billing types that play behind the front players. One that can get it off the back four, spray it about, win it back with a bit of physicality. That’s where we lack numbers.

I don’t think Iraola wants an old fashioned ball winner no.

Nigel Pearson (Brizzle manager) said in Evening Post (Brizzle paper) he is unaware of any firm bids being made but is firm on £25 mill minimum and believes Scott is worth £30 mill

Spurs and West Ham were supposed to be interested - but considering West Ham are supposed to have offered £18M for Ward-Prowse suggests they would never reach Bristol City's target price.

It's a fair point.

I'd take a punt, and suggest it needs a PL club (in order to afford the fee Brizzle are asking, overpriced as we may think it is), but the right profile of PL club to take the gamble on developing Scott. Bottom half? As opposed to demanding established players (midtable and up?).

If you're higher up the league you'd probably rather go for Lavia or Ward Prowse, Madison or Tielemans as more sure-fire bets. None of those players are coming to AFCB or Wolves, even if we could afford the initial fee for them. So we have to take the gamble instead.

Forest probably haven't got the dosh after last year. Everton have well published issues. Palace just splashed on Lerma's contract to complete their midfield.

West Ham is the obvious competition but they've been looking at Ward-Prowse. Wouldn't surprise me if they swooped in for Scott last minute.
