Joshua King

Just needs the right manager ;)
Joking aside about Watfords revolving door Josh has only really played well under one manager. Utd couldn’t get him firing, he had indifferent loan spells, Blackburn he was a one brilliant game in four player and after us he has been awful. That one or two years Eddie unlocked him, particularly that spell Wilson was out may well be it in top flight football unless he rediscovers.

Well worth a 2.5m punt. I think I’d even have him back here for that although think he might have been a bit whingy on way out which may have cooked his goose.

Was thinking that earlier. Take AFCB out and he's had a nothing career.

Hes still only 31, he's wasted 3 years since we got relegated. For me he was our stand out player for 3 or 4 seasons

I guess some players really do peak at one club only .

TBH I thought it was potentially a good signing if he could get performing but that didn’t happen .

Probably not helped by him having 3 very different managers to work with and well it’s not like we’ve done better since he left !

I think he might blame it on us not allowing his move to United. But, a) He would have been a bench warmer there b) If they had really valued him, they'd have given us more than 30 mins to make the decision. c) Resilience= coming back stronger despite disappointments. As much as I liked Kingy when he was here, what has happened since shows he needs to work on being more resilient.

I think he’s another one who’s made there money and now just going through the motions to keep the gravy train running
I think his time at Watford would probably support that theory, right Mark ?

I really don’t see him achieving anything more in his career from here on in.

He will just rely on his agent to keep finding somebody to add to his bank balance until he feels that he can comfortably afford to retire.

IMO he probably no longer has ambition and more than likely doesn’t even enjoy his football anymore. But he can still milk his past achievements for a few seasons yet, before he hangs up his boots.

If he just wants to go through the motions, he should come back here. Plenty of lumpy "gravy" down the beach after a heavy rainfall. : )

Just another player who thought he was better than he was, but it was Howe that was getting the best out of him.

He thought he was a number 9, there was a reason why Eddie rarely played him there and that was the skill set he had best suited the team either deep or wide. Perhaps if he just accepted this he wouldn’t have turned into the player he did, who just turned up when he had the added motivation like playing against former clubs.

He moved to Everton and Ancelotti preferred to play no striker at all than pick King.

He’d have soon been found out at Manchester United, just like he has ever since he left. Shame he didn’t learn from Eddie and take that on into the rest of his career.

Man U move looked pretty clear to me. He was being brought in as a stop gap until longer term targets became available.

He was never going to be much more than a bench warmer, regardless of how highly he thought of himself.

I think he genuinely had the talent in there. It was just the consistency. I think Eddie wanted to find a way to play both him and Callum as together one of them was likely to score. King also played well on the left, so was useful as an opton there too. Eddie probably made him feel special as he seems to have a unique ability to show many players that they are important to him. This may well have brought the best out of Kingy. His head got turned, though I think and he has never recovered from the United saga, which is a shame. If only he could have had more of a 'stuff you' attitude.
