I would be surprised if the club were allowed to stage boxing again, but if we did, lessons will have been learned.

They tried to police it on the cheap relying mostly on our usual matchday stewards, more accustomed to pensioners liable to throw a cushion if it really kicks off. And even then I gather the full usual matchday team couldn't make it due to the unusual hours so they were understaffed.

The supplementary private security staff (presumably coming from the promoter) may have been more accustomed to the clientele, but were obivously insufficient.

That it kicked off worst when the Southampton fighter was fighting and losing, causing much merriment and putting some visiting noses out of joint, is another lesson to be learned.

Most of all the physical building and facilities were shown up for what they are, massively inadequate for that size of event. Given the queues and overly cramped concourses and entrances when when more of the capacity wants a beer than is usual for matchday. Bill has his eyes on that issue already.

I'm sure I read they sold out because some guy bought the last 200 or so tickets and sold them on for half price. Where are you seeing otherwise?

Yeah it was marketing bollox. They said there was 15,000 tickets available and there was absolutely no way there were that many there. Probably no more than 10,000.

  • Design concepts will be presented to Bill in the coming weeks for a new stadium, club have been working with Two Circles around data.
Would like to think that fans will begin to get involved in stadium shenanigans soon in that case. Given what I've just read I hope that the SEG are not 'our' representatives...

It's not really the right thread for it but interesting to hear "we have more than doubled the number of maximum points holders"

Also interesting was "pre-season saw us welcome 17,000 fans and attract 8,000 new points holders"

Assuming that is 17k unique people for pre-season it's making the case for less than 20k weaker.

I'm not part of that group but they are entitled to their opinion. Personally I don't think the music is too loud and the trumpet thing makes me laugh every time. It's not really aimed at me but it's ok. I think people are misremembering if they think we somehow had wonderful pre-match atmospheres before all this stuff came along, far from it.

I think the idea is that they are a sample of fans rather then representative of all fans.
That makes sense, but I see this in the minutes - is that a mixed response amongst the fans on the SEG or did DK get feedback from other fans?

  • DK spoke about difficult decisions that have received mixed response from fans, but noted that it shows that the club is being optimistic and supporters understand this.
