New Kings Park Stadium

The council is skint, the owners why would they build a stadium that would cost 200m or probably way more. Transport links, ferries? Your with the fairies, how would 50,000 people get to this stadium you want.
For someone who bangs on about obscene money in the Premier league, advocates that the local council stomp up 100s of millions.
Council Skint my @rse !

Yep the MONEY thing is obscene.
Ok ...but I didn't invite the Yanks...

Oh f√ck it then...bring on Truro City !

What a strange response.

I just want what wacky Mancs and scruffy Scousers have ..

Is Bournemouth not a Tory town....with probably the richest council in Europe ?
And with Americans flashing the dollars...talking the big talk.

The transport links are already in place FFS....
...they are called. 'ferries'...and they run from Poole, Weymouth and Portsmouth !!!
Airports ...we are circa 200 miles closer to the Euro continent than the northern giants.

I'll beat this drum until I merge with daisies.

It's not me that needs to 'get real'....I say I want the Cherries to rumble with Madrid and Milan...
....but if It dont happen I'm quite happy to continue to sate myself with non - league fayre..I don't cream my jeans over Adams, Aaron's, Scott and other half - arsed lotharios...whilst sitting in a Library every second Saturday.
So one minute you bang on about how we need to be different, retaining our identity and heritage and here you are now wanting us to be like Man Utd/City and Liverpool

And then you intimate that BPC should contribute to a stadium and associated transport links. I suppose, living in Cornwall, news of the parlous state of the country’s economy (and for Councils in particular) hasn’t reached you yet.

I've said it all along 20k should be tge absolute minimum.

As you've pointed out, by the time you factor in away fans.

Can't believe (well, I can...) how many feel that's the max we need.

Any less, and it almost seems barely worth the outlay/effort.

But I suspect Foley is more interested in maxing out corp/exec suites, rather than getting massive uplift in average/'normal' fans. He'd take 20k with a few more boxes, over 25k and less boxes imo.

His money/decision of course, just whst I reckon hes focusing on the most with it.

Sorry for coming in almost a week late on this, but I disagree. I mean of course Foley wants as many money making suites as possible, but he also knows having as many "core" fans as possible is ultimately the most important thing. Core fans will show up win or lose no matter the division while buying a new home shirt every year.. corporate attendance ebbs and flows a hair more and based on the weather and etc. If your company offers you a hospitality ticket and the money doesn't come out of pocket, you don't feel as required to attend. Sure, the ticket is sold anyways, but core fans are ultimately the most important and are what keep the atmosphere fun enough for corporate folks to keep coming back and buying suites for their employees/clients/etc.

Honestly, if the goal is for Foley to make as much money as possible, he'll make sure to build restaurant/retail space IMMEDIATELY next to the new stadium (maybe where Dean Court is right now?). That's the current trend in American stadiums and honestly it's incredibly convenient. Any time I've gone to an Atlanta Braves game I've made sure to get to the park real early and stop in The Battery to grab food and drinks. When the World Series was in town and resell tickets were $1,000+ I legit went to The Battery JUST to watch the game and. be able to soak up the atmosphere. It's been an absolute win/win for both fans and the owners.

Ultimately we as supporters can only go off the titbits of information being told to us.

That’s why we’re discussing 18% of capacity for hospitality as Jim Frevola has been quoted as saying it.

20,000 seater has been quoted by Bill Foley, league regulations state 10% allocation for away supporters.

So that leaves a figure of around 14,000 for those “core” fans an increase of around 5,000.

No, Bill has declared that the hospitality sector is the most important thing. Depending on the amount invested and the ROI required, he may well be right from a strictly business point of view.

For the average fan, who simply wants plenty of tickets available at an affordable price, its a different matter.

Hes stated we need to significantly increase hospitality to compete, and presumably pay for the stadium.
2000 tickets at £250 a head, is the equivalent revenue from 14,000 tickets at £35. Its not rocket science

I would like to agree, but your 'core' fan does not create anywhere near the revenue of hospitalty 'consumers'.
Having said this he should be aware that part of the match day experience is the atmosphere crested by the fans (as in German football).
It's a balancing act. I hope he gets it right.

Indeed so. We need both.

Otherwise the most logical, and profitable solution would be to turn the entire stadium into one gigantic hospitality suite.

Yes.

Like it or not the 'core' fans are 65 plus season ticket holders.

When you run a business, these 'core' fans aren't doing much with the revenue.

Business brain wants 'new' fans, not the old ones.

Yes, I do understand the maths, thanks.

For me, it's a question of balance : the commercial objectives of the hospitality sector vs the needs of the average low-budget fan.

That's all.

Yes agreed but let's be honest there's a ceiling on how many people are willing to pay £250 for one game

I agree.

It would be interesting to know how many covers we currently do for a typical PL game.

500 ? Maybe more ? Do we sell out every game ?

It would be one hell of an achievement to increase that to, say, 2000 per match. Fascinating also to see the market research for the value of the local corporate hospitality business, actual and potential.

I guess they must also be factoring in high-spending tourists coming down from London, or flying in from the USA.

When Man Utd or Liverpool are in town, maybe it's doable, who knows.

They will also probably expand corporate ownership of boxes for, or in exchange of sponsorship

Even at £200 a head, based on 19 games but excluding cup matches, that's a very healthy 7.5m extra revenue.

Random thought, it was suggested that some plans may have landed on Bill Foley’s desk a couple of weeks ago… Bill is flying over for Saturday’s game.

Couldn’t be set for an unveiling of plans could we?
God, please no ! I don't think I can take any good news right now.
