New Kings Park Stadium

Having a chat my mate , yes I have one, the other day about a sensible capacity following on from Bill's comments about the percentage of hospitality seats at other PL venues. Bill states we currently run at 5% of seats for hospitality compared to 18% at other venues. His intention is to continue increasing hospitality seats at the current DC meaning less seats becoming available. Originally I thought 20,000 would suffice for us but if we look at general numbers on a 20,000 capacity we are looking at , 10% for away fans=2000, 20% hospitality=4000, meaning and increase of only 6000ish for additional home fans. Current clamour for tickets suggests that we'd sell more than an additional 6,000. Throw in tickets for competitions etc and I think we are looking at a minimum of 25,000.

I was thinking about this post before the game looking around knowing just how many people would love to be there. But lack of capacity, complicated ticket system etc puts many off or shuts them out.

I know it’s back of a beer mat maths but it is something I hadn’t thought about until the whole 18% required solely for hospitality came up.

20,000 seater, 2,000 for the away fans, 3,600 for hospitality. Would see 14,400 “normal home fan” seats.

Current situation, is 11,100 seater. 1,200 for away fans, 666 for hospitality. Sees about 9,200 “normal home fan” seats.

So an increase of 5,000 for the “normal fan”?

Yeah it's something I struggle with too especially after hearing we have 8,000 new points holders and what I interpreted to be 17,000 unique visitors just from pre-season.

The sensible thing for the club to do would be to announce that it is opening a waiting list for new season ticket applications in advance of a new stadium being constructed.

Yep, and charge people £50 to join the list. No Jim, make that £100.

I know that’s posted tongue in cheek but in reality that’s the only realistic way of doing it.

Everyone could say they’d want a season ticket and when the reality comes and you’re asked for £600 in one lump some people baulk at it.

So a refundable “deposit” towards your first season ticket is realistic.

Club takes 5,000+ £100 deposits whilst the stadium is built. That’s also a decent amount of interest the club can earn on £0.5million over a couple of years.

That seems perfectly reasonable to me DJ charge people a deposit for an ST while it's being built.

I don’t like the rampant commercialisation but any new stadium won’t get built on altruism.

Indeed, I’ll criticise when I think it’s justified and that’s unfortunately been more often than I’d like lately, but ultimately there has to be an element of pragmatism alongside it.

If the club is serious about getting on any levels with the bigger clubs then we surely need at least a 35,000 capacity...at that's a minimum i'd say...50,000 is realistic if prolonged habitation of the PL is the aim...and Euro competitions.
Chances are we have missed the big boat sailing when Eddie Howe departed...that Era was when the big shift out of Tinpot should have been struck down in the planning.
The Pot as it is doesn't even aspire to Tin as I'm seeing it ...it's going Plastic.
I reckon we are heading for Junior Status in this blokes Portfolio if this situation pursues...and a drift into obscurity..eventually dropped off his interest and sold off in bits.

The future could see two potential giants emerge on the South Coast...Pompey from the old World...and the largest city in Europe without a top - level club .. Plymouth ..Argyle.
I reminded an Argyle fan yesterday of that fact...the silly bugger didn't even know what their population was or their catchment area projections...The catchment area for Dean Court easily matches that of Plymouth and is larger than Pompey's by far.
Those with the Money must surely see the potential in a centrally - positioned south coast outfit.. with easy transport access to Europe.. .and to give the project adequate expedition... with fans providing a metaphorical rocket up the rear end by expressing the needs ..problem is ..by nature they are too bloody placid....lacking that nasty militant edge you get up north in the densely populated areas....
It's so damn frustrating to see it....seeing our mainly middle - class effete crowd on MotD is a cringing embarrassment.

I agree, it felt like the choice was do a Luton and build up the club or spunk an excess £20M a season to battle for 17th. By the end of doing the later we had enough debt to have done the former and got change but it's Max's money not mine.

Who's paying for this 35k or 50k stadium?
Who's sorting out the transport links?
Get real

What a strange response.

I just want what wacky Mancs and scruffy Scousers have ..

Is Bournemouth not a Tory town....with probably the richest council in Europe ?
And with Americans flashing the dollars...talking the big talk.

The transport links are already in place FFS....
...they are called. 'ferries'...and they run from Poole, Weymouth and Portsmouth !!!
Airports ...we are circa 200 miles closer to the Euro continent than the northern giants.

I'll beat this drum until I merge with daisies.

It's not me that needs to 'get real'....I say I want the Cherries to rumble with Madrid and Milan...
....but if It dont happen I'm quite happy to continue to sate myself with non - league fayre..I don't cream my jeans over Adams, Aaron's, Scott and other half - arsed lotharios...whilst sitting in a Library every second Saturday.

Don't forget that our richest council in Europe are bankrupt.

Ferries sound good, but I'm yet to see one go up Sea Road.

The council is skint, the owners why would they build a stadium that would cost 200m or probably way more. Transport links, ferries? Your with the fairies, how would 50,000 people get to this stadium you want.
For someone who bangs on about obscene money in the Premier league, advocates that the local council stomp up 100s of millions.

Then why do you want a stadium fit for lotharios?
