Tyler Adams

we wouldn't meet £100k pw wage demands
I'm pleased he left rather us jeopardising our pay structure

adams will be a more than adequate replacement, hopefully even better
Is Adams not on something close to that?....Neto is apparently/incredibly.
Doesn't matter how good Adams is if he's injury prone......The fact that you could count on one hand the amount of games Jeff missed through injury in all the time he was with us makes him worth the extra money.
Although it could be argued that the Cook /Christie partnership is better than any partnership we could have with Lerma in it so maybe Jeff moving on was for the best......I just don’t see how anyone could say that we are better off having Adams in the squad rather than Lerma.

Nope. I didn't say anything about Adams, I said we aren't missing Lerma and don't have a Lerma shaped hole in our squad. We don't.

Interesting how our best ever PL seasons didn't involve Jeff Lerma and now he's gone to Palace they are crap. He was a great player for us but he never achieved anything like the levels that Lewis Cook has shown this season. Never part of a cohesive midfield unit at this level for us, which is exactly what we had before we signed him and is what we've got now.

Lerma's a good player. He elected to leave. We'll never know how he'd fayred under AI.

More 'strange' that certain posters seem determined to make a hypothetical comparison over something we'd never know the answer to.

Adams is as least as good as Lerma, ability wise imo. Time will tell re his output and 'rosbustness'.

Why you'd want to w4nk yourself silly over a player that left, to beat a new signing is a strange one imo...

Shouldn’t that be directed at Neil?

Genuine question Neil, if Lerma is such an outstanding player then why did he end up at Palace? Surely on a free transfer the top clubs would have been queuing up, as they seemingly are for Kelly. Or could they not compete with the financial might of Pace? Our fan base seem to rate him a lot more highly than the scouts who watched him during his time for us.
Get ready for retort around something spurious like Adams not playing as many games this year.

It's just as easy to say why is Adams playing for us if he's so good tbf so the why has Jeff gone to Palace argument doesn't really hold any water......Adams might be an excellent signing but how can anyone know?.....can anyone on here say they've seen him play more than a couple of times for Leeds?......he certainly doesn't get into our first 11 at the moment.

He's playing for us because he's got a poor injury record which is what put Chelsea and Liverpool off. Jeff is at Palace because nobody else thought he was worth the modest amount of cash they were willing to stump up. It's not rocket science.

Yes Derek thanks for clarifying my point.....nobody but Palace came in for Jeff and nobody but us went after Adams.....

Chelsea went in for Adams but pulled out over concerns about his injury record. Liverpool too if the papers are to be believed. The difference with Jeff is that not only was he a free agent he also has no significant injury record... and he ended up at Palace. Sure Adams will turn out to be an extremely poor signing if he barely plays but the evidence suggests that he was much more coveted than Jefferson Lerma by the top clubs.

It was widely reported that Adams was signing for Chelsea and was having his medical after agreeing terms with them, Chelsea pulled out 24 hours later after failing to agree terms with Leeds.
As for Lerma, who knows what other offers he may have had on the table.

The Liverpool link is a new one on me....I wouldn't bother mentioning any paper talk tbh.
Don't know much about the Chelsea interest but if a hamstring injury put them off they couldn’t have been that keen.
We were the only ones who thought he was worth the risk.

True, it's probably fair to say that Lerma didn't reject offers from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Man City because he really likes the layout of Thornton Heath Tesco's though.

I disagree. If not for the injury issues he would not be at Bournemouth.

It is pretty clear from numerous TV and media sources that Chelsea were very keen on him and the deal seemed to have been done at about £20M. Medical was set up and we can only presume he failed the medical and the rest is history.

If what you say is true then you wouldn't think a hamstring injury would put them all off......I mean doesn't that sound a bit strange.....I mean if his medical showed up something more serious then fair enough but a hamstring?.....that's the only injury he had last season as far as I can see and Chelsea would have known about that before the medical......doesn't ring true to me.
So as far we know only us and possibly Chelsea were interested unless someone knows of another medical he failed somewhere?
