Non - What to watch?

@MB1980 - honestly mate, I’d give Starfield a miss.
Probably the most disappointing console game I’ve ever played.
10 years of build up - and after 10 hrs you knew it was crap.

Its an ok game. Its no Elder Scrolls but then hardly anything could match that. My biggest complaint about Starfield is that it delayed them working on the next Elder Scrolls.

Would be good to get a list of peoples favourite all time games.

Yeah that's what I thought kudos. Google around and end up reddit fallout subs... so obviously more likely to get people recommending 1 and 2 as well, I'm the main.

Like I say, there's 20 odd min youtube videos that sum up the original ganes to give you a flavour of the saga/lore. So much decent newer stuff from the last decade I want to try, so spending 10s/hundreds of hours decent on 20+ year old games im not particularly interested in doesn't seem best use of limited spare time...

Still have epics like baldurs gate 3, Elden ring, ghosts of tshima, rdr2, cyberpunk I haven't touched...

Starfield may come good @GARYafCb but given the backlog I'm in no rush to play it, given the volume of mediocre/underwhelming reviews.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned before but really enjoying Kin on iPlayer…

Only 3/4 through S1 but so far so good…

I've been recommended Kin by my brother so it's on my to watch list.

Recently watched The Fall . I'm not sure how that slipped the radar from 2012 but was excellent for anyone who hasn't watched it on iplayer. Currently watching 3 body problem on Netflix as well as The Durrells.

Really enjoyed Kin- both series excellent IMO.

Had been watching Love/Hate too but had to take a break from it for a while- there’s only so much killing you can take. Looking forward to Blue Lights series 2 now- first one was really good.

Was the end of series 3 too much?.....lol you should have been over here when it came out ....people were in mourning.

Yes it was a bit- didn’t see that coming and not sure how much sympathy I have for any other characters. It’s not on a par with what happened to Nicola Walker in her last Unforgotten (I’ll never forgive ITV for that) but still….

That's fair, I played the originals very much at the time and knew every inch of them so it's an impossible for me to know if it would stand up to someone coming in cold 20 years later. I think you can run them on your phone now using a free third party app but I doubt the interface would work particularly well.

On the topic of Fallout, a team of modders have been working a completely new game using Fallout 4 called Fallout London. It's been 5 years in the making and should be released on St George's Day this year and the graphical uplift you were hoping for comes 2 days later.

BG3 is a great game, particularly the first act but I've noticed a few people who've been weaned on modern RPGs struggle to adjust to the mentality that you don't just kill anything that looks bad on sight. The games much more fun if play it more openly.

Elden Ring an Ghosts are souls-like, I played some Dark Souls or the other one when it came out and it was really interesting with some real attention to details like weapons bounding off of walls and stuff which made the combat feel more realistic. I just found the idea of running the same levels over and over again being punished for every lapse in concentration or just bad luck a bit boring. I've not touched a souls-like since especially as I have a young kid, I don't want to put myself in a position where I lose 45 minutes of progress getting killed because I've been asked for a hug.

Cyberpunk I've played 15 minutes here or there, it just doesn't seem to suck me in. I've never really been into games where I sit around talking for 5 minutes straight. I find I just skip all the chit chat but then I'm detached from the narrative when I finally get to doing something. I was the same with the Witcher games but eventually really enjoyed them.

Starfield I kind of sleep walked through, it's not bad it's just not really good. I've feared Bethesda had peaked for while, I was wrong about Skyrim which is one of the best games ever made but I wasn't in a minority that wasn't a huge fan of Fallout 4 and Starfield is a bit meh.

A massive enabler for me was getting a Steam Deck, it meant that when I'm supplanted by Mr Tumble or the Gruffalo I can sneak in some gaming time. Hit the power button and literally a second later I'm right where I left off mid-game.

Having been converted to The Traitors, just finished watching Series 1 of the Australian version on BBC I-player, completely compelling from day one, if you’ll forgive the spooky red tracksuits they’re all forced to wear for the challenges. The deception and manipulation though- mind blowing! Came out of it thinking women are so much better at that sort of stuff than men - dangerous creatures, you’ve got to watch them!

Just off to make a cuppa for the wife- I know how to survive

Looking forward to tucking into this.

Need to play 3, 3 nv and 4 on console.

Was waiting for next gen enhancement that's been rumoured for a while before going straight in with 4.

But watched a few yiutube videos recently that said 3 is 'better' fallout experience in many ways. 4 obviously newer, but apparently a bit more action orientated and plot/pacing not as good as 3.

Was even tempted to start from beginning and isometric 1 and 2, but likely janky and dated. But people on fallout forum still say they're good if you can get to grips with mechanics.

May just watch summary video on 1 and 2 tbh and start soon with 3... once I complete the incredible deadspace remake. What a game that is. Cross between aliens film vibe and resident evil. Atmosphere, vibe is sublime, atmospheric and extremely polished.

Skyrim is in my top 3 games of all time. Will likely play fallouts then hopefully starfield will be more polished/finished, what with Bethesda seemingly living up to their rep of releasing games and taking years to polish/optimize it!
They confirmed the next gen update for FO4 yesterday, out on 25th, looks decent!

Just replayed the directors cut of Ghost of Tsushima - still a beautiful and very satisfying game.
Cyberpunk, now that it is the game that should have come out originally, is in my top 5 of all time - absolutely love it.
Also in that top 5 is Red Dead 2.
You’ve got some great gaming if you get on to those 3.
I’d also throw in Horizon, Forbidden West as a must play.

watched that documentary on prime about leyton orient last night, thoroughly recommend it for those that like old school football. hilarious watching the manager effing and jeffing his way thru terrible team talks, and we feature as they show the league table with us at the bottom of divvy 2 (spoiler alert - it ends ok).

I've done the first 5 episodes.

Absolutely class, they've nailed the whole vibe. Love it

\Pleased to hear it. Only watched most of 1st episode so far... really enjoyed it. Captured my attention interest, which is typically a struggle when I do sit down to watch series/film these days.

Quirky humour, slightly stunted development of people due to living in 'vault' for so many generations with strong flavour of 1950's despite being centuries later.

Inappropriate humour, like how the main woman, talks about 'incest' casually between her and cousin. As if its a normal thing, but sadly cant get married, as part of same family.

Then pivots into brutal, rudimentry fighting scenes and no awkwardness, no nonsense sex scene, despite imagining she may be a little 'shy' due to how they've lived.

All above captures fallout 'vibe' so far.
