Lloyd Kelly

Can’t we offer a big sign on fee

I think we'd have to offer more than bigger ckubs imo. Stature/appeal of moving to a big club as he enters his prime will be hard to match.

We can offer guaranteed football perhaps, but I'm not sure that will override an opportunity at a top club.

Exactly this, the wage a bigger club will be able to offer when not having to pay a transfer fee + sign on bonus would blow us out of the water. I'd like him to stay but as with Lerma, he's never downed tools and I can understand wanting a bigger payday at a bigger club. Hopefully we've got a replacement lined up.

We don't have to pay a transfer fee to keep him either, so other clubs don't have an advantage over us in that respect.

Ultimately we won’t and shouldn’t break our pay structure and he deserves like all professional people to be able to max out a short career. I can’t see how this ends with him being able to pull a shirt on next year sadly.

Kelly is a great player, but he won't be irreplaceable. On his day he is fantastic, but he has lacked consistency up until this season. I'd love him to stay but wouldn't blame him for leaving and wouldn't be as gutted as I was when Lerma walked for free.
I think he's generally good with snippets of greatness. Yes, he probably should do what's best for himself after some of our fans booed him. Wonder if any of them want him to stay now? Muppets.

I think the only thing that will stop Kelly leaving is our manager. If Kelly feels he is really going to progress under him and feels valued by him it may persuade him to stay. I hope so.
But there are other, possibly even greater (sorry Andoni. You're great but still young) managers who he could learn even more from. I think being at a top six club will put him more on Southgate's radar too. With more money too, surely Lloyd has to go for it.

Agree with your last point. Hope he stays though, and Iraola and the AFCB project could be attractive for him- he could be a big fish in our pond here.

Hypothetically, if we were going to break the structurest, I think it would need to be for someone better than Kelly (consistently great) and someone who is injured less. I think we'll do okay without him. Like him but don'the think he's irreplaceable.

We don't wear shirts anymore...they're jackets...USA, USA
