David Brooks

In the slightly longer term, Brooks will come back in the summer closer to being ready to contribute to AFCB than if he had stayed. That benefits the club.
Not really . There’s such a gulf between championship and PL , it’s why players like Frazer are tearing it up but couldn’t get in a PL team . We would have been better served by him staying and learning what our manager wants from him ..I’m sure AI would have improved him far more than whoever the hoofball **************** is that manages Southampton .

Exactly and as KC says, this move was desired by the player in question because he needs to play more ( to aid his recovery, I presume ).
If the club see an upside in giving the player what he needs at the moment PLUS a financial benefit, I think it’s a reasonable decision.

The fact that there is no option or obligation to buy is telling. He is still part of AFCB’s plans, I just hope that this move gives him the game time he craves and needs.

Since he returned the Swansea game was first time he looked anywhere near to his past best but they're Championship and played some wreckless high line tactics. The loan will do him good, and hopefully loan has a £1m promotion fee they have to give us in the loan contract.

Back in the 60s i used to go and see them play to see the great players around England, I never supported them or disliked them. My team was Boscombe. but we played at home alternate weeks, most weeks i watched our reserves when we played away or I would hitch hike around the country following the first team.
If you want to have a go at anyone for going up the road to a team you hate maybe it should be Brooks. the little scumbag, but I don't think you will.

Fair enough mate, we all go to football for different reasons.

I dont particularly even like watching us v Man City or any of the elite, as 9 times out of 10 we're getting a lesson from them. Much prefer and get more excited when playing mid/lower teams, rather than a feeling of dread thinking this afternoon/evening is going to be a waste of time :D

No interest in watching the best players in the world live tbh as derive zero satisfaction from it.. purely interested in us and the result. Much rather watch my team playing a league 2 game v someone really than two teams I dont care about/support to see worlds best 'in the flesh'.

I stopped going to friendlies 20 years + ago as almost bored senseless, watching half hearted performances with nothing at stake. And that includes friendlies against Madrid and attractive top flight clubs.

But of course everyones different. No right/wrong... unless you were cheering on Southampton ;)

I’m half with you and half not.
I haven’t been to a friendly for ages either, maybe 25 years.
With regards to seeing the worlds best players here, I do like to see them. But Im also pleased if they are injured or banned.

Their media team on the wind up...

Yep, any rivalry is definitely only manufactured by our own fans. That's also why their fans brought flares to the Vitality on their last big day out.

Always nice to know we're living rent free in their heads. :cup:

Cherry picking our reserves, bless ‘em. Nice to help out the less fortunate from time to time.
How many more players do we need to send up the road before we can sing.........

"we saved your football club"
We’re there.

Will be funny if this continues next season and beyond too, once promoted to PL. Assuming we finish above them of course.

Really rub it in then about being feeder club (which I will do anyway tbh).

Has to be a song or two in there creative people can come up for when we next meet...

'You're just our sh1t feeder club...sh1t feeeeder cluuuubbb. you're just our sh1t feeder club'...

Err? We are feeding them.

On reflection of all the ins and outs of this....I think Wallmouth has called it about right...or at least the closest anyone's got to how things should be.

I'd like to add to that....Cherries 100% nationwide shared the emotions of David's illness and recovery and willed him through it.....the club are nailed on safe to stay up....and now the emptiness of not having this great flair player and asset with us in this exciting run in.

But we must also realise that David will have no natural allegiance to a southern club, being a northerner...so South Hampton...Bourne Mouth .so so...he might not care too much of that... ...and could easily, eventually end up back at Sheffield or at Leeds I fear.

Essentially Boscombe have lost the grip on something special we had...for whatever reason given.
The only redeeming thing could be that we can taunt Saints fans about helping them up with if Brooks and Rothwell do play a big part alongside Fraser ...a Verry Cherryised affair !...if they get back up.
