AFC Bournemouth v Manchester City - Saturday 5.30 pm

For me, this was our best performance against them.

Yes, we’ve matched this margin of defeat before but never in this way.
This was not a defensive performance, we went toe to toe with them for 97 minutes, all guns blazing, and only the Foden goal, which was somewhat fortunate in the way it came to him, separated the teams.

We just went toe to toe with a top European side and only lost by a single, somewhat fortunate, goal.

Breathe that in for a moment.

Seeing City trying to run the clock down against us at the end was just about the biggest compliment they could have paid us.

If Iraola and his team carry on like this, we really should be in a European competition sooner rather than later.

I hope that everyone involved takes massive confidence from this and sees that from here on in we should expect points off of everybody.
Hopefully this result can kickstart a fantastic run of results to end the season.

So proud, not just of the result, but the manner of it !

Got to say, for anyone who has recorded Sky, it’s well worth watching all the bits with Scott Parker. Really well spoken, sure you could play a drinking game and take a shot every time he says “moments”… if you wanted to spend the evening in hospital, but despite that. It’s a brilliant listen.

I'm very proud of the team today. They tried to get some points right to the end, by playing the way they are coached to play.
On a lesser note: Does Neto know he's allowed to catch balls that the opposition play into the box?
One manifestation of City's quality is that most of the time it seems like they are 3 v 2 all over the pitch. But late in the match we gave them a bad time. Again, overall a performance to be proud of. We will go on another good run through March now, you watch.
Oh, and win the FA Cup.

Just this from me....a competitive performance from a Boscombe team v the recognised Worlds best team...jeez .. that's more than we can ask

We had been blitzed 6 -1 earlier in the season up there...In front of 60,000 baying idiots....shades of reversing 0-9 to Liverpool by winning 1-0 at DC...by performance at least !

Candidates for Team of the Day innit.... ....marginally behind Millwall !
Or...or was that Man City for holding out today...could be the result they look back on if they win the PL. !

Fabulous. If we had a player who could sneak around the box and score we'd have won that.

But what a great match and performance. City are excellent, they don't need all the dodgy decisions.

Wasting time. No yellows for that.

I think our back 4 was Cook at the end.

Magnificent

Just got back from watching a great performance by our lads.

With a bit better finishing we could have had a deserved first point against City today and possibly three.

Solanke had one saved on the line and listening to Willo in the car on the way back it was half way across the line when he watched the playback.

Great atmosphere in the second half as our team pushed for that equaliser.

Ryan Christie had another great game today, never stopped running.

No points in the end but no complaints after watching all our players give their all.

I haven't been invested in a manager since Eddie left but I'm all in on Iraola now....everything I want in a manager
This!

A brilliant game, everyone played their part, we had our chances and on another day we might have got a draw.

As for Iraola, a really nice man, always smiling and my goodness, what a smart manager. Subs were spot on today, and brave too, as were the tactics. And the way we play is a joy to watch. We’re getting better and better…the results will come.

I hope he’s given/signs a long contract as he’s definitely what we need long term IMHO.

He’s the sort of manager, who with performances like that, will really raise our profile and the owners will be all over that.
It’s safe to assume that we are likely to get even better, given more time.

I imagine that they will be pulling out all of the stops to get him to commit to “the project” longer term.

Iraola, Black Knight and AFCB seem made for one another.
I really hope that we can keep them all together for a good few years yet.

My god we were soooo close! They were on the run. Never seen that before. I was on the edge of my seat for the full 90.
Seeing Pep hugging his players at the end and even bringing De Bruyne on late on, showed just how much he feared that the result was in jeopardy tonight.

That could have been a Champions League game. It was that close.
For them, this game was almost as important, given the league situation.
They needed the win and only just squeaked it !

Can’t be anything other than proud of the team tonight.

We gave that a right good go. Really enjoyed the game and sadly the chances didn't go out way. We were not afraid of City and they had to work hard to get the result.

Overall a good team performance but stands Zabartni, Christie of course but my MOM Semenyo.
