Safe standing

I expected the Trust to be all over this but it seems they only react to things raised by members after the event and so far no one has raised it.

Are we legitimately paying taxes for a body of jobsworths to legislate Draconian rules to solve a problem that doesn't exist?

Taxes ? It's not illegal to stand so the Police can't do anything (apologies if I've missed some point you're replying to further up the thread) .

Reading @Garbo post earlier makes my heart sink, WTF is happening with this club.

Could've been clearer rather than trying to make a pointed statement.

The SGSA is a publicly funded body.

That's the body charging the public £1.6M a year to apparently enforce ridiculous security measures to solve a problem that simply doesn't exist.

I found their annual report for 22/23 here: https://assets.publishing.service.g...3/SGSA_Annual_Report_and_Accounts_2022-23.pdf

Interestingly saw this in their recommendations for that period:
RecommendationProgress to date
DCMS should consider whether the SGSA should play a wider role in the regulation of stewarding at football matches. The SGSA is pursuing voluntary, non-regulatory solutions to the current challenges faced by the sector and working closely with the sector on stewarding, including working with the SIA on qualifications and the Premier League and EFL on supporting stewarding reform within football.

Also, like apparently like all executive non-departmental public bodies, it's focused on expanding so it can squeeze more public money.

Cheers, I've never heard of them until now ( been away and was trying to catch up but the arguments started )..had this image of stewards calling cops for help which could well happen the way they're handling things and the resentment bubbling beneath the surface.

The Trust parroted the club line about fines etc. I asked how many fines have been given for persistent standing. No reply.

And absolutely right that the risks involved do not warrant this approach.

Some fans think safe standing = free for all.

Got to our seats just after KO today (thanks to the queue jumpers for Turnstyle C leaving those of us queuing properly at a virtual standstill for ages ) and found 3 characters occupying the positions/seats that we had season tickets for. Got abuse when asked what seats they had tickets for, (two had adjacent seats, the other was in a different row) so had to get a steward to move them on.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Why do the stewards persist in blocking the gangway and checking tickets prior to the start of the first and second half. At half time with fans going up and down the stand to the concourse or chat to a friend elsewhere they just get in the way. People were pushing them aside to get downstairs while they were checking tickets of people going upstairs. It is pathetic, they have no communication with fans they just get in the way.
