Asmir Begovic

If there is one player that proves he has got b@lls it's this guy. The biggest mistake that Eddie made was to get into a p!ssing contest over who should be our goaltender. The morale of the team declined after Amir was banished and never recovered. Amir won games for us that we never should have won, saved shots that were almost impossible to save....Look at Begovic yesterday.....he was the true leader, shouting, even willing to start scrapping to invoke some kind of passion in our guys......Probably the best goaltender in the world......He will leave of course.....

Are you his mum?

No wonder he gets angry at times.

Fascinating and relevant article with some interesting insights from Asmir here https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ce-of-confidence-in-football-how-cultivate-it
I've always been intrigued by how form and confidence can ebb and flow - how one season you can do no wrong, and then in the next nothing seems to go right (or vice-versa) without any change in effort or attitude on your part, and how a change of club and/or environment can have drastic effects on the quality of your performance - in either direction.
The article mentions Diego Forlan, a classic example of this phenomenon, and the way that Asmir himself has come back seemingly transformed should give us all food for thought when slamming players on social media.
It is easy to blame players for not trying when things aren't going well, but the real reasons for individuals and teams not reaching their full potential can be much more complex as this article suggests.

I actually thought that in his post playoff failure interview on COWS, Bego came across as a very intelligent and articulate guy. As a "thinker" he is probably more prone to put undue pressure upon himself and suffer as a consequence than other players who might just go out there and get on with it.

Interesting to hear his views and he should be proud of his past season with us. I think we can have absolutely zero complaints with his overall level of performance this past season. Well done Asmir, without you we surely would not have made the playoffs.
