Chris Mepham

At the start of last season he was excellent, filling in for several positions and was unlucky to not get a place at the heart of the defence because we started so well.

The likelihood is that he now has a few weeks to cement a place at the back for us. Over to him, but more performances like yesterday and he could be tricky to dislodge.

Always remember that game at Chelsea in our relegation season. Centre back pairing of Francis and Mepham. Remind me how many we let in................................

I'd like to think so, but I just don't think Parker will ever fully trust him. If we sign two centre backs and have Lerma who can fill in as and when, it might be better (fairer) to let Meps leave. Having said that, if he plays like he did yesterday, I feel the club will want to hang onto him as reliable back up/competition, which will be great for us, but not great for Meps.

Think we should encourage him more, some rave about Kelly but he is mistake prone..seems that Meps takes the rap for everything he does if he slips….he had a really solid game on Saturday and was instrumental in us keeping a clean sheet…let’s give the guy a chance!

Agree. All players make mistakes. When centre backs do, it can lead to chances. This is why they are often zoomed in on somewhat unfairly. VVD cocked up with that penalty for Liverpool last weekend, but no-one is berating him. Meps is under appreciated at Bournemouth. He was good when he played last season and he was good in the last match. Unfortunately, there will always be those who just write him off and therefore don't see what he does well, only to shout loudly when he inevitably makes mistakes. He's our player. He's shown commitment and passion even when other players would down tools, try not to get injured and seek a move. He deserves our loyalty, which means loving him even when he makes mistakes, the same way we do Lerma and Kelly.

People unfairly write him off because his name isn't Steve Cook
