Ken Baileys Ghost
Plastic
Poxy stadium.
No idea why he wanted to leave us.
...nah, apparently he's League One at best according to an 'expert' or two on here. Buena suerte, Diego.I’m sad to see him go. Can’t be that bad of a footballer to be jumping comfortably into a top 6 La Liga squad.
the fee, when known, will be very interesting
should give a good indication of where we are financially
Probably a crate of San Miguel and 1000 pesetas according to his worth by some on here
That sounds very sincere and in keeping with what we’ve heard about the man. Gutted that we never found a way to integrate him into the side, he was always on the fringes and it must have been hard for him to develop the necessary partnerships to shine whenever he had a bit of a run in the team. I’m convinced that we never got the best out of him and I never felt that he was the problem. Just one of those signings that never really worked out for either party but I’m delighted that he’ll remember his time here fondly.
The fee upfront is just 500,000 euros, that can rise to 1M when certain clauses are met.

ouch
A question. How much of Diego's fee to us was the so-called, Premier League premium.
If accurate we've almost let him go to get him off the wage bill, and make room for Davis presumably. I wonder why the valuations in the press were so far apart from reality though?

It just makes it clear how much we allowed ourselves to get carried away with all of that PL money though, doesn't it ? Buy a player for 10 odd million quid without batting an eyelid and then a few years later, this "asset" is let go for a few hundred thousand. A pound is still worth a pound, however many pounds you have lying around. Hopefully a few people at the club have realised that now and we'll be more careful to ensure that we get proper value for our money in the future ( should we ever be in that position again of course ! ). I guess once you are in the PL, these are the prices you have to pay to get the player, still bloody annoying though !...so to all those slating him on here...please don't be moaning about what we got for him!
We got sod all for Brad Smith and Jordan Ibe after all...would prefer Diego over both those !
