Ive seen that before during 'holiday research', am very tempted to give it a go as part of a 2 stop next timeIf you go to crete I recommend loutro, you can only reach it by boat.
Very picturesque, stay a few days and enjoy the tranquility, no cars, very few brits, no all inclusive.
I would recommend for off the beaten track, simple accommodation and tavernas on the water frontIve seen that before during 'holiday research', am very tempted to give it a go as part of a 2 stop next time
Never ever contemplated that part of the world, always preferred expansive beaches like Florida, Barbados and Turks. But thus looks extremely nice.Twice we have stayed at Minos Beach Art Hotel. Small 'bungalows', its been there for years hence its only 10-15mins walk into town rather than a new one which is built up in the middle of nowhere, but its well maintained a refurbished. Very quiet place, good service and food, pool isnt over crowded, and plenty of access points into the sea from where the loungers are positioned. It isnt a traditional beach front, rather rocky waters edge with loungers placed onto built up crazy paving with swimming pool steps into sea, great view across Mirabello Bay. There are a couple of small beaches on their property too, but this is where people with kids go so we avoid that!!
We like the town not for its 'touristy' stuff, but its also a proper working town/harbour, so caters for locals and others who don't just want tourist tack. You can easily go to side roads and away from the (incredible) natural lagoon, and sit amongst locals chilling out drinking decent coffee, find good restaurants etc, for us, its just got a nice feel to it.
Both times we have been were with TUI, but you can book independently and fly with EasyJet or other regular flight.

Sounds like my kind of holiday.Someone mentioned Kosovo well I was there in 99 . whole on the border in Macedonia in an OP a local farmer and his adult son came to visit and say if we stayed the night they’d kill us all. Charming.
By all accounts Croatia is meant to be a beautiful spot in the balkans
Totally agree.Got to make you laugh.
Kenya the tourist, who's never liked tourists.
Has condominiums in every tourist spot known to man, but just wishes the locals didn't accept any other foreigners in, so he can enjoy it all for himself.
Unbelievable Geoff.
My favourite Greek island is Naxos, a little village on the north of the island.
Few tourists, bus arrives at 12 and leaves again at 2.
I used to go out fishing with the local fishermen early morning.
A lovely laid back place with small hidden beaches only reachable by boat.

There’s that word again. Lol.The ferry from Piraeus stops at quite a few islands Paros was always one we visited, we stayed on the north of the island in a place called Naoussa.
Sadly, Naoussa is no longer the quaint little fisherman village it once was,
when we were there, you could get a boat over to the lovely secluded Monastiri beach, but now its full of bars and rented sun loungers.
How lucky we were to travel before mass tourism took over.
Incorrect rob as everyone else is a tourist not usI may be wrong but one tourist is still a tourist, however much they like to pretend otherwise.
NATOSounds like my kind of holiday.
What tour company did you use?
To right off to Bournemouth 3 nights sheff u gameThe bit I don't get is why take a holiday in February, somewhere other than West Ham, Fulham and/or Newcastle? How can golf and sunshine possibly be a substitute for the ultimate in travel - an AFCB awayday?
Based in Alvor in the Algarve. What area are you visiting?
Are you a tourist like KC?Based in Alvor in the Algarve.
