Junior Stanislas

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, let's be honest, who thought he would be a regular starter this season with Gradel fit,I didn't...

Agree that he's looking even better than his purple patch before he got injured last year. He brings genuine goal threat to the side, which has been our weakness at times. Stan on this form makes our squad look incredibly strong as he's almost like a bonus player that most of us wouldn't have named in our first eleven prior to the season - don't think many would leave him out now though.

I think Ibe is similar in that he might not always get it right but he looks to have enough to be a real match winner. This cutting edge is what we lacked at times last year and Eddie is slowly turning us into a ruthless attacking force.

Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing but when I read comments like,he's the managers mate it makes me cringe.

That Stanislas remark is up there with the twa ts on here who thought Francis only signed because he was Bradbury's mate.

Stanislas scored two with Charlie Daniels, Callum Wilson and Dan Gosling adding to Cook’s header as Bournemouth ran riot on the south coast. Stanislas stepped up to bury a penalty at the end of the first half and earn a 3-1 lead at the break, but Howe revealed he was not the designated spot-kick taker.

“We always like the players to take responsibility; we had a designated penalty taker,” said Howe. “For whatever reason he didn’t want to take it, so that’s something we’ll look at.

To be fair despite it being a clear candidate for best bit of business ever done by the club there were a lot of red flags like Charlton fans opinion of him, the lack of first team football, the reluctance to drop wages, etc.

Red flags? Don't talk nonsense.

I reckon there's an insider at afcb who writes the odd post on here. They're usually titled "Josh King - not fit to wear the shirt", "Time to drop Daniels?" and "must be Eddies mate". ;-)

That wasn't why i resurrected the thread, it was more meant as a hat tip to Eddie and Jason.

To produce their best form, some players need to feel loved, have an arm around them or whatever similar cliche you prefer. Not many saw the three year contract coming and yet right now it's looking incredibly astute, both in terms of securing his future with us and giving him a boost which seems to be transferring to on-the-pitch form.

With the number of backroom staff on the payroll it would surprise me not if there weren't one or two afcb employees whose task list includes monitoring this board amongst others and posting the odd choice morsel or two (and probably not the obvious candidates either).

Those who've been around awhile will remember the days when Dick Dastardly posted, and he didn't keep his identity secret!

Thinking about it further I wouldn't be surprised if Al Gard is actually Jeff "all publicity is good publicity" Mostyn, given some of his past postings and current obsessions.

Dick Dastardly and his brother who claimed to be posting whilst inebriated from Australia. It felt like good times, it was the era of Eddie-share and all, but history seems to have left it with a bitter aftertaste.

Wow, how are you conflating a valid discussion point at the time (i.e. Daniels place in the starting 11) with those other two?

...good to see that he's getting the recognition he deserves:

Hopefully the injury isn't a bad one but amazing how that enforced change influenced the game for us. Fair play to Fraser for taking his chance as well

Not in squad last night, the same with Dan Gosling who was injured.

Didn't hear or see why Stanislas wasn't on the bench. He was an unused sub against Saints.

Easing him back in slowly, wanted him as an option against Chelsea, thought that if he had to bring him on last night he couldn't manage two in a week

All speculation but feasible

Can't wait to have him back as an option, one of our only midfielders who looks like a consistent goal threat.

Should be 100% for start of season.

CHERRIES star Junior Stanislas is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season after going under the knife to cure a persistent hernia problem.

Stanislas headed to Germany following Cherries’ final game of the campaign at Leicester on Sunday where he netted inside the first minute in their 1-1 draw.

The 27-year-old winger did not attend the club’s annual presentation night at the BIC on Monday and was instead operated on by one of Europe’s leading specialists.
