He publicly stated that he wanted to use Roma as a stepping stone to Madrid. It doesn't take a lot for the Italian fans to turn on a player. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Yep and not every player who messes up in one place does the same elsewhere. This is his chance to put that behind him now.

Obviously hope he does well but he has also had 3 loan moves where none of the clubs took up the option to buy. 9m is still 6m less than Ibe though and he’d have to be horrifically bad to be worse than him.
