I imagine players get injured more these days with the stupid training methods and intensity of it.

There is only one way to train - that is totally with a ball at feet in a fairly relaxed manner and some time, not too much, attributed to building muscle fibre with weights and gym work...and much less of all that twisting and turning through sticks all day long etcetera..it puts pressure on knees and ankles.
A friend of mine, a chiropracter and local rugby physio..laughed when I told him my thoughts on it..replying that Football has been getting it wrong for years.. .he also emphasised heavily about the boots footballers wear being inadequate for support and protection.

Just about every dabble in the marketplace by our club ends up with the word 'injury' coming into the equation.. very soon afterwards !
It needs sorting...before we waste more money and dip down the Divs.

Edit: Thank God this transfer didn't go through...one step up the learning curve !
Modern day pitches don't help either . Not so much give in them as the old mud patches, hence more knee injuries.

If we stay up, I’d like to see us go back in for him if possible. Seems a very exciting player and the sort of profile of player we should be buying. Shame it couldn’t be done now but it makes sense to not spend that much money for potentially minimal impact.

Also hats off to the medical team for going against Villarreals comments and correctly identifying this problem.

Not to mention:
Nick Court works within the medical team at AFC Bournemouth and has a whole host of experience.

He graduated in Physiotherapy in 2006 and worked as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS, as well building his sports experience in rugby, academy football and with Olympic athletes.

Nick was part of the staff at Saracens between 2013 and 2015, as they won the Premiership and were crowned European Champions.

He then moved across to Australia and was team physio for the Melbourne Rebels, before returning to England and starting with AFC Bournemouth in 2017.

With a degree in Sport & Exercise Science, as well as Masters degrees Sport & Exercise Medicine, Nick is an active educator and researcher in the field of injury management and sports performance.

That's rough luck for the club and the player. Agree with people who want us to go back in for him in the summer. Liked the sound of him.

That should be less injuries then from 2015 and into the present . :bag:

Maybe will sign him for half price before the end of the transfer window with add ons related to number of appearances.

Seems slightly strange to me. If he's good enough to sign with a hip and hamstring injury estimated to return in Feb why does a potential month make a difference? Especially when he's a good enough to be worth a 20m+ fee, young and we have signed an additional two young multi positional players who can bed in while he recovers to make an impact slightly later on. Does he even need a squad place at 21?

Can't say I am upset he's not coming here, didn't know that much about him to begin with to have that kind of feeling. Will say though if we are willing to spend that kind of money, market should be pretty wide open to find a player of similar and/or better quality.

If we are to spend £ 20 million smackers on a player...you want him starting against Brighton
.....Oh yes you damn well do !
Otherwise what's the point of using the January window !

From what I'm reading even if his injury was as expected he wasn't starting against Brighton and that didn't bother us. Also where would he be playing? Ouattara on the right I assume, Anthony or Tav on the left, maybe Semenyo or Dembélé with Billing/Christie or whoever isn't on the left playing off Dom or Moore if Doms not fit.
More exciting options are great but if not fit but good enough to buy and we have other new players competing by the time he's fit someone else might not be....hence my confusion If we're thinking he's a striker long term and going to be better than what we've got...
