Non - Labour Party

Asking for a friend. What is the difference between Anti-semitism and anti Zionist and ln Netanyahu’s case, anti Facist?

Anti-semites don't like any Jews. Anti Zionists don't like Jews who want their own homeland.

For years anti-semites avoided censure by claiming their actions were anti-zionist.

A guide is usually if the protestor is only criticising Israel and ignoring other regimes that may be open to criticism.

Totally avoiding questions like “ why have Jewish communities established for hundreds or years across the Middle East completely disappeared “is another one .

Conflating Hamas and Gaza is as bad on the other side.

Is it anti-Zionist to criticise Israel for expanding settlements into the West Bank, or controlling power and water into Gaza (before the current war)? As long as we are extending similar standards to conflicts elsewhere?

It’s not , how about wanting Israel completely destroyed , is that anti semmitic ?
I love how the initial attack on Israel isn’t even mentioned in discussion anymore ..
Vast majority of people detest Hamas as much as the OTT actions of the IDF.

More innocent kids who would quite happily play together have no future due to the actions of their ‘leaders’.

Not really . Innocent civilians , women and children have always suffered regardless of weather wars are thought with drones and missiles or by men in a field.
Yes but the % amount of civilians killed shot up as soon as missiles were developed. The difference between the first & 2nd WW is stark.

And it hardly ever demoralises population either. Tends to entrench.

This was another disappointing election night for the Conservatives, with two by-election defeats and two gains for Labour.

Not only did they lose Kingswood, where Labour needed a relatively modest 11-point swing. They also lost Wellingborough, where an 18-point swing was required for the seat to change hands.

In the event, the swing in Kingswood was 16.4%. But that was overshadowed by the result in Wellingborough where the swing was 28.5% - the second highest swing from Conservative to Labour in any post-war by-election.

Last night's results prove that people are finally dismissing the anti Labour smears perpetuated by the tabloids and the BBC. On the day we enter a recession, the Tories are still trying to bribe voters with false promises of tax cuts. People are waking up. This government has already put the biggest tax burden on the public since the war. It will be fun over the next few moths to watch the handful of Tory apologists still left on this board.

None of the current leaders of the ' Party's' have anything in the way of 'Charisma' ...not Sunak..not Starmer.....not Davey....not Yousaf up there 'over the border'.
Wales and NI are in somewhat of a transition with personnel..so hard to judge at this time.

Bye - elections are what they are...predictable in General Election year.

In 97 Blair had a reasonable amount of Charisma and a decent Plan.

...Major had very little Charisma.. dull and dour !... . ...although he'd had the Economy fairly positive and rising post - Thatcher......he still lost heavily!

Boris Johnson ?...well he did have loads of Charisma despite what else he had...and it's the effect Talk has on floating voters don't forget.

Talk....Sunak doing a lot.....but the Charisma is not there ....Promises are...but we know they will break !
Starmer is doing almost as much talking but No Promises..no apparent or known Plan...add lack of Charisma.

Now then....some are saying that Farage is
somewhat of a 'busted flush'....
...but he is sticking his head out of the woodpile, sniffing the topical political atmosphere and ready and willing to be a nuisance to the main 'Partys' at Events in this pre - General Election period....a polarising figure whatever you think of him....because he has what the others lack...
...Charisma... and if you bring say 'w@nker' and 'plonker' onto the Forum as attempted epithets...well then they can also be applied to the above mentioned names !

Just saying like.

And Oh....a little snippet that might be of interest..
..there is such a thing as Anti - Charisma or Charisma By - Pass.
A custodian of this trait was the one - time Tory spokesperson for Remain - Anna Soubry..a huge Vote - Loser !
Others of course include the somewhat evil Rees Mogg.. plus the cheerless Purveyor of Sadness - M.Gove .
..and sadly the well - meaning Labour 'Calamity Chick' Diane Abbott.
But Soubry defined Anti - Charisma perfectly...and going back a bit Edwina Curry the Egg - Lady ! Awful People .

This is the whole point. Both major parties want to appeal to the ostriches.

So the ostriches are waking up and voting Labour ? It looks like just as many voted Reform, how did the greens do btw?

You might need to get out more if that’s the only ‘fun’ you have to look forward to.

Some good points there NOC.

Hopefully, it’ll stay on this thread where it belongs.

 It’s on topic so I don’t see anyone using the report function. Equally, off topic threads are always more likely to go off on tangents and then come back to topic etc, so get far fewer complaints.

It’s the football threads, which the majority primarily use the forum for that people get more defensive over.
