Non - Top 10 comedies?

In no particular order and I've no doubt left some of the funniest out,

Early Simpsons, up to about series 12/13

King of the Hill, Dale Gribble/Rusty Shackleford was an over the top conspiracy theorist, now very near US mainstream politics : )

Green Wing
Spaced
Black Books
Father Ted

Only Fools and Horses
Yes Minister/Prime Minister
The Thick of it
Chucklevision.

My perspective will be skewed, but most of the best have already been identified. Definitely Frasier and Seinfeld, Big Bang and Rules of Engagement. Whose Line Is It Anyway. Fawlty, Vicar of Dibley, Mr. Bean, Hello Ladies.

Fantastic selection of good memories, but am I the only one to have a soft spot for Teachers and The Smoking Room

Agree. Amazing selection of comedy from one and all.

My criteria are fourfold:

1. Originality of the writing.
2. Great performances.
3. Consistently funny (quite a few otherwise good shows fell at this hurdle)
4. Are they re-watchable even today?

There is nothing much from the last 10 years as I think it takes a good while to mature into a classic. Also many shows Anyway, here is my ten in no particular order.

Green Wing
Early Doors
Teachers
Peep Show
Hancock - Radio and TV (Galton and Simpson, the best comedy writers?)
Men Behaving Badly
Black Books
Fawlty Towers
Kath and Kim
The Thin Blue Line

Comedy I didn't watch.

Some Mothers do 'Ave 'Em
Are you being served.
Keeping Up appearances
It Ain’t Half Hot Mum
Allo Allo

Great to see a couple of mentions of Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister. Some exquisite writing and much of it timeless.

But for me, Ricky Gervais caught the zeitgeist and The Office, Extras and the Life’s Too Short Special are the best ever.

Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers and Peep Show also up there.
