Non - What to watch?

Just finished watching The Secret a true crime story starring James Nesbitt and Genieve O’Reilly on Netflix.

A very different sort of role for James Nesbitt which he was very good in.

Worth watching if not seen it, there are four episodes.

On AppleTV:

Severance was really good - kind of a thriller / intrigue / big corp conspiracy vibes, all with a 70s office aesthetic. Adam Scott & Patricia Arquette.

Afterparty was a lot of fun - murder mystery set during one evening at a party after a highschool reunion. Ilana Glazer, John Early, Zoe Chao, Sam Richardson.

Been watching the Australian 6 part series the Newsreader over the last three nights, the leading lady was also in another good series Secret City.

Very good watch, it’s slick, about an Australian news team and stories they cover.

On BBC iPlayer.

If you like a bit of culture then the Brownsea Island Theatre company are doing Twelfth night.

It a lovely event and you can take a picnic and eat in on the lawn like proper guardian readers.

We went last night and the first half was OK so we booed at the interval and they were much better in the second half.

More importantly did you see any red squirrels?

Really enjoying comedy thriller Only Murders in the Building on Disney+.
Three residents of a New York apartment block who are obsessed with true crime podcasts get together to investigate a mysterious death in their own building (and yes, make a podcasts about it).
Really funny, and also provides the answer to the question “What’s Steve Martin doing nowadays?”

I really enjoyed both the first 2 series, look forward to the third.

The Old Man on Disney +. Absoultly brilliant. Best thing on TV at the moment. So well directed and acted. If you prefer your action and pace more like the Fast and the Furious, maybe not for you. But if you enjoyed John Wick/Jack Reacher TV or a good espionage series it might be for you. Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow at their finest.

sounds good chief, popped up my app the other day and was thinking about taking a look.

have you tried the new lord of the rings series?

Watched all three episodes of Karen Pirie on BritBox.

Sound quality very good, seems it has been poor on ITV reading reports in the media.

Karen Pirie is a refreshing change from some detectives series that have been on.

It also has a start, middle and very good ending.

We really enjoyed watching this series.

:D

Strangely Steve Martin' name popped up for the 1st time in years at work the other day, and we were questioning 'whats he up to these days....'

Rob - been told to watch better call Saul, loved breaking bad. I’m about 5 episodes into BCS does it get better, struggling to get into it

I've also been pondering whether to start with BCS intermittently over the past few years. Also loved BB.

Need to revisit Gotham too, started watching that last year, then got into 'Madmen'. Gotham seemed very good, atmospheric etc.

Madmen is outstanding btw. Not all out action, or any really, but the story, characters, plot etc is some of the best I;ve seen. Top notch tv, highly recommend it (even if doesn;t look particularly exciting in terms of action compared to other series).
