Non - Winter Shortages

I really despair of this government and it’s poodle press. Petrol is running out, food is running out, power is running out but don’t panic buy. Just shop as normal. What did they seriously think people would do ? Bog roll gate is still fresh in the memory of most people.

There are proven oil reserves for at least 47 years https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/energy-economics/statistical-review-of-world-energy/oil.html

So no, petrol is not running out.
Likewise with food. There is no shortage of food (although if we keep concreting over our farmland, self-sufficiency in food may be affected) it is a logistics issue in delivering some food stuffs to supermarkets, Personally, I buy my bread from Orchard Bay Bakery in Cranborne and meat from Clarkes of Sixpenny Handley, with High Lea farm shop for some fruit and veg, whilst a trip to the wholesale merchant Frouds at Woodlands, gets me a bag of spuds, a net of onions and a net of carrots, for less than a round of drinks.
Power is not running out. All energy is derived from our nearest star (the sun) that's ALL energy on planet Earth. That energy, will not expire for some 5,000 millions of years. On planet Earth, we have an almost limitless supply of energy.

As such, there is no need for you to despair.

For those of you, who incorrectly attribute the following to Abraham Lincoln:

You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Please see my sig.

The price of oil and gas on the world markets are soaring right now I see.

It's probably not a bad time to be involved with petrochemicals. Do we know anyone in such a line of work?

A quick read of people from other European countries, seems they aren't having the same issues with supply lines.

Petrol prices are up over here, but no shortages that I am aware of. We are going through the pandemic, but avoided brexit, not sure if that helps the discussion :)

Like one sensible person said on twitter.

No doubt there are other issues that are causing the issues we have at the moment - but the fall out from Brexit is making them worse than they should be.

Also apparently the petrochemical drivers are being poached by the Supermarkets, who pay them more. So...food or petrol?
