OAP concessions- disappearing at Spurs

That's a big family car for the odd man.

Bet its the small displacement diesel version with pea shooter single exhaust and 'audi sport'/rs4 badges all over it.

(Of course nothing wrong with small engined cars, but makes me laugh when people try to dress it up as top of the range high performance car...).

OAP discount isn't going to be a thing when people my age get to retirement age, which will be 70+ by then.

Fair move. We're all in it together... after all.

I'm not anti boomer at all. But large numbers of that demographic have benefitted financially in numerous ways.

I'm not saying totally eradicate benefits and concessions, but like it or not things have to change. Otherwise other generations will be footing the cost/shortfall, and without much of tge growth that older generations have benefitted from. Just by default of being born in a different era. And that's not on imo.

Football is a luxury after all. Tough titty if yiu don't like it. Hard times ahead for many. Not every pensioner is 'loaded' or reasonably well off abd I do feel sorry for them. But it's the same for every demographic. Should pensioners just because of age... not imo, given state of things and certainly not at expense of younger generation who in general haven't and likely won't have same breaks.

I get the concession, and to be fair I could afford standard prices like many I know, we were lucky getting the benefit of free further education, apprenticeships, cheap rent and affordable housing so I can understand the question of why a price reduction. However, anyone who buys expensive crap beer and food in the ground need their bumps felt and if you can't work that out no wonder you don't have much disposable income.

Agree. I avoid all that cr4p wherever I go. Cinema, theme parks etc. Grossly Over priced and bottom rung rubbish. Wholly unesecary with a modicum of planning/organisation.

Simikar to other ongoing 'necessities' like daily starbucks/Costa and yearly iPhone upgrades.

Wgere I work, there was a Starbucks, now replaced with something similar. During renovation, was intersting hearing people say it's good it's closed as saving them 100's a month. Many of them also show off, talk about latest phone, or leased german car. Then some of them (younger gen) another time woukd moan about hard/impossible it is in to get their own house now...

Maybe it is tougher, but seems many (ime) don't have foresight or discipline to commit to longer term, operate too much in here and now. Not all of course, but a noticeable number for sure.

If only they stopped going to Starbucks they could save for a mortgage

The beer and food is slightly more expensive than in a pub. Not really going to make a dent on disposable income unless you are paying for hospitality tickets. Plus the money goes to the club. Many have a beer and socialise with their mates. Lots of reasons why you might do it, but abstaining won't get you on the property ladder.

Interesting as far as our club goes it’s the older fans who supported this club when it had small attendances when in the lower leagues.

Also the same fans who are in the concession bracket now as well, who supported this club when it was down on its knees and fighting for survival.

This is when getting into the top league was always a dream.
I fairness
Must be a bit of a trek for you, to travel from Swindon Stefan, when you go to a match? Is the Ford Capri up to it these days?
i do travel from just south of Swindon and can confirm that it is a bit of a trek!

A twirl chocolate bar is £1.75.
The small pies are now £5.
The burgers shouldn't be called that and the beer is awful.

Agreed, save a few quid won't get you on the property ladder, that's nowadays the bank of mum and dad...........having a mobile at 13 a must, learning to drive and having a car at 17 desirable, going in Uni til 22 and a large debt inevitable...
This why it was so simpler when I grow up, it wasn't there so we didn't want..
I would hate being young today, you seem to have so many things which don't seem to make you happy.

Paras re AFCB.

A trip to Villa Park or Molineux would see you have to part ways with £3.60 to grab a pie, while Luton, Everton and Newcastle all set their prices just shy of the £4 threshold at £3.90. There are only three stomping grounds in the top tier that hit the £4 mark for pies, those being Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur’s new and improved stadium, and Gtech Community Stadium, one which homes Thomas Frank's Brentford.

To quench your thirst at either Old Trafford or Bramall Lane, it’ll set you back a mere £3, while Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Luton charge £4, which is interesting considering two London clubs make up the aforementioned quintet.

My local fish and chip shop's pies are £4.20. Twirl in the shop is 75p. So you're putting roughly a quid in the coffers of the club each time.

Again, not sure how this will significantly affect anyone's disposable income unless your buying them in the hundreds. Especially considering the price of a ticket in the first place.

I agree on quality of some of the items, especially the pies and burgers. The neck oil (from cans) when they have it is nice. The coffee and cake stall in the Ted Mac end sells good quality stuff. Don't mind paying a bit more because it's convenient and goes towards the club.

Junior Cherries meal deal actually makes everything a decent price, hot dog/burger/pie, carton of drink, packet of crisps, small chocolate all for £3.
