Odd Three Out

Thanks Erik for updating so quickly. I'm sure there's a similar chart somewhere at EPLGCHQ, it's got an extra column, M.P.N.T.R.B. ( Minimum Points Needed To Relegate Boscombe ). I'm not going to fully relax about us not getting relegated this season, until the last 2 games of next season : )

Wonder what the lowest points to survive in a season is. Must be close this season
Since 1995-96 season where the league was reduced to 38 games and not counting GD
In 2020-21, Fulham with only 28 points were relegated in18th.
Three teams have been relegated on 40 points or more: Sunderland in 1997, Bolton Wanderers in 1998, and West Ham United, who went down with a massive 42 points in 2003.

Yeah, the corollary is the lowest points to stay up which was West Brom on 34 points in 2004/5.

Everton currently on 32 with Wolves and the mighty Cherries to play.

It could also be said that the Baggies are responsible for the greatest escape of them all, becoming the first team to avoid the drop despite being last on Christmas Day. They became the first club to do so, and only Sunderland and Leicester City have managed it since.
Wolves will get added to that list.

I thought, “blimey, that was a rubbish bottom three, none getting to 30 points”, looked it up, saw fourth bottom had 39 points….and then looked upwards to see where we had finished

What a God Awful thing it must be to be a Saints fan with all them Pomponians in raptures at their demise......and with everyone West of the New Forest acting all oblivious because they don't recognise the old Derby potential any more....because they don't need to..

....the scum potential of Sheffield United will have to do !

What a season this has been for reflections..... from Anfield to the reverse fixture.....those two handy little points taken from Eddie's mob...taking Tottenham at Tottenham...two up at the Emirates...the Leeds revenge....
..So .. not very boring was it Batman ?

Speaking of great escapes:
When Newcastle fired their manager in November 2021 they were on 5 points, tied with Norwich for 20th (but slightly ahead on GD). The new guy they brought in didn't make much of a difference right away as they were only on 10 points at Christmas (still tied for last with Norwich).
They not only avoided the drop, but finished the season on 49 points in 11th place.

All the smart people were certain that the appointment was a disaster for the team and the manager.

Hey cc, where have you been?

Lurking and/or trying not to get too sucked into the football forum world!
Still following AFCB but lots of family stuff going on and can't read the Vitals Forum every day like I used to, so I've mostly decided not to post anything since posting leads to more reading . . .
Well, it has been a great season. Hopefully the family stuff gets sorted and you can get back to more forum time-wasting next season.

It certainly was not boring. And yet, there are still some who say "what's the point of being in the PL, we are just big-team fodder". Baloney! (or "malarkey" if some prefer).
