Tyrone Mings

Surely fitness comes with playing regularly, provided you don't get injured. Mings seems to pick up so many minor injuries that it's difficult to see him getting a run in the team. I'm sure he is a talented footballer but hard to show it when used in dribs and drabs.

I personally thought the height of Mings might have been a good thing against the born again Pogba, would love to know why he isn’t getting in the team if he is fit
In retrospect it would have been a good thing. His combativeness would have been a good thing too. I've got a lot of time for Mings. But there a question marks about his fitness no doubt.

I agree, so there must be a good reason why Mings wasn't starting. I think probably it was just caution in the light of injury but it could have been tactical too. Who knows, but I'm sure he can hold his own in defence due to his height and athleticism, combined with his toughness. I think he looks even 'bigger' now if anything. Really hoping he gets a run in the team going forward and fulfils his undoubted talent.

What also must be considered concerning Mings is that he really has NOT been tested thoroughly over a sustained period in the Premier League. This is due to his constant string of injuries. He may well have had the odd game here and there in the Premier League but we do not know if he could be a consistant performer at this level.

True, but only one way to find out!

If he is ' not good enough' why on earth would he sign him in the first place....he has played well in several games albeit one - offs. So it must be to do with fitness or not fitting the system. If that is the case it beggars belief that he is still here!

My guess is he’s off out on loan or a permanent move after his non selection for today’s game. Hope I’m wrong
Surely we can’t afford to loan him out though, would leave us with 3 CBs and one of them Simpson.....
If we’re selling, not sure who we could bring in who would be better for similar money. Think he has all the attributes, just not had the game time.....and a lot of injuries as well

Just seems very odd that he’s not in the squad. He made the squad Wednesday night and he’s risking both Cook and Ake in the squad instead of Mings

I would imagine some players would read fans forums out of interest and others would think nothing good would come of it. The club would probably advise them not too. They get grief and praise on their own Instagram posts too.
I'm sure they are advised not to read them, but human nature suggests that some if not all of them will, and be disappointed or worse because of the moans they read. But we've all seen players underperforming and then read the moans, only to find that we'd jumped the gun a bit with criticisms, because there was a genuine reason for a player's 'off period'. I think it's far better to say positive things. Yes, sometimes a kick up the backside works, but often, positivity works far better. But that's what we do, since we don't always know the truth behind what's really going on. That said, hopefully this forum is more full of praise than moans. Is there an at a glance player rating thread on here?

FWIW I saw Mings hanging around the players car park with a full bin liner after the game just now. No idea what, if anything, that signifies...

Man . . . I really want Mings to play for us. He's been really exciting in just about all the matches he's featured in.
Disappointed if he's in fact leaving, although maybe if it's just a half-season loan that would be better.

With that concluding our cup participation for the season, and with Simpson seemingly preferred as backup, we'll have hardly seen Mings all this season.
