Callum Wilson

I've lifted Adam's quote from another thread but the Sky analyst is right, we don't need to sell Wilson.

I reckon EH could persuade Callum to stay until the summer - a sort of 'return our support of you now and we'll let you go then' deal.

His value won't go down in that time, if anything it'll probably go up, much like the wages he might get.
Unless he gets injured again of which seems highly likely, given his past track record. In which case holding on to him is a bad move. He will probably go now which will only add to the pressure on the team, and doubtless lead to a unprecedented losing streak. I bid you fair evening.

We only win when franno plays anyway so doomed already. Good evening to you too.

It might sound like a stupid thing to say but there is only 1 thing we can't offer Callum... Champions league football...!!!

Everything else a footballer could ever want, he could get here...

- First name on the team sheet... 'Every Week'
- Prem League Football
- Shed loads of money
- Playing for England
- An awesome place to live and bring a young family up
- Fans that adore him, and will always do so

With Defoe now off of our books (I assume), Wilson could surely renegotiate to become our highest paid player (ok, perhaps not the stupid money that Chelsea could perhaps offer, but more than enough to set him up for life). The guy seems really switched on, so I wouldn't put it past him to look beyond the 'mega' pay packet and realise it's not only about money...

I do really hope he stays, but feel if an offer if this magnitude really does come in it will be "au revoir Callum"

They can also offer potential winners medals.

We also can’t offer playing in front of 40000 people singing your name. I think that’s quite powerful to a footballer too but agree only as one factor.

It looks like we have no interest in selling, so not particularly worried about these rumours. If they are stupid enough to pay over £70 million for him, that doesn't mean we HAVE to sell him. What would be the point?

His goals might solely keep us up this season or the next, which is worth nearly triple that fee. What do we stand to gain? You think a club of our stature will be able to replace him for a sensible amount of money? Do you not think that every club that we'd try to buy a striker from would just drive their asking fees up, since we have £50 mill lying around?

If Liverpool or someone came in for Fraser for £40 million, do we HAVE to sell him too? Of course not! We set the value of our own players, not the clubs trying to snatch them off of us. As far as I'm concerned, Fraser and Wilson combined are worth the £100+ million prize money we get for finishing anywhere in this league.

Refusing to sell may be one point but you may have to factor in the issue of the top clubs coming for our players and the players themselves may decide they want to leave to due to a higher pay packet etc. In other words our player could have their heads turned by the top clubs as was the case with Matt Ritchie.

Of course what we may have done already is to have his replacement already signed. A fit Solanke at £17M. Get £50M for Wilson and EH buys another forward in the summer when the transfer market is slightly less mad.
End of the day it will come down to Wilson - if he wants a move he will get it, and thats no disrespect to him, we just need to maximise any deal.

Being realistic, given his age and with the injuries and lengthy getting back to match sharp periods robbing him of important years, if Chelsea come in it's probably the only chance he's going to have of moving to one of the big six clubs.

Whilst he's there he would likely be entrenched in the England set-up as their players are generally looked upon more favourably, have a chance to win some trophies, get to play in Europe and earn a lot more money. Given all that, I could understand him telling EH he wants the move to happen.

Should we block that opportunity it may make other players a little wary of coming to us if they have ambitions of using us as a stepping stone. Seeing us as a stepping stone shouldn't be viewed in a negative light as realistically that's what we will be for some players. In order to get their move they're going to have to perform at top six levels whilst playing for us and we'll get a big fee out of it at the end to rebuild.

If a £50 million+ bid comes in I think it will be hard to turn down. £60 million+ and I think it would be an error to turn down.

We aren't going to get relegated this season and I actually think King would be happier if he was played further forward. It would also mean Solanke and Mousset get significant game time during the rest of the season so come summer we have a much clearer idea what we have on our hands up front.

Buy for 3 million, sell for 60 million perhaps.

Football is a business, and at anything North of 50 it makes sense.

You could replace him for 20 and Bobs your uncle.

We are fans, sentiment gets involved.

I don’t want Callum to leave, but Josh scored many more goals when Callum was injured and hopefully he can reproduce that scoring form, if Wilson were to leave.

A quote from journalist Guillem Balague on 5live last night saying we've told Chelsea €50 million isn't enough and he won't be sold at that and it would take maybe €70 million. That's the right attitude!

If that's true then well done to the powers that be at AFCB !!!

Whenever we try to buy a player the price keeps going up and up, so it's about time we did the same when other clubs come in for our players. As mentioned above, maybe the club have actually realised that Chelsea are desperate to sign a striker in this window out of fear of a ban in the summer window. In that case we really do have them by the short and curlies, so if Callum goes it absolutely HAS to be on our terms.

Let's bleed them dry or keep Callum for the length of his contract. We don't owe them any favours !
