Chris Mepham

Thomas Frank has admitted there has been contact from AFC Bournemouth for Brentford defender Chris Mepham but that he is available for selection on Saturday.

The Cherries have been long time admirers of the 21-year-old and have been reported to have made a £15million move for him in the past couple of days.

Mepham has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Bees this season but hasn't featured since a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in December and reports suggest a move could be completed 'by the end of this week'.

However, Frank revealed that Mepham was training with the side today (Thursday) and that is available for selection for the trip up to Rotherham United on Saturday, although Brentford co-directors of football, Peter Giles and Rasmus Ankersen, will be the ones dealing with his future.

Speaking about Mepham's future, Frank said: “I would say there are a lot of rumours and the only thing I would say is that there has been contact, but the co-directors of football will take care of that.

That’s yesterday’s news unfortunately

Don't think there has been any massive pressure to get this one over the line quickly.
never likely to be done in time for an appearance tomorrow and with the free weekend next week there is plenty of time to get him settled in.

I doubt this transfer is any more complicated than any other deal. It’s just there is far more attention to transfers on social media.

20 years you heard nothing until it was announced with photo in the Ohec. That didn’t mean there weren’t several days / weeks of prior negotiations

Or hours of Arry Redknapp keeping people locking in dressing rooms until they signed. Don't get that these days!

But back then it was Kenny Brown, Joey Scott and Steve Massey. No wonder there was no publicity ;-)
