I remember a Stockport player mick wardrobe who played at dean court and when they read the teams out one wag shouted I bet he is a tall boy !

From Brentford forum below. They also seem to think the deal will go through.

His(Eddies) nephew is at GP as much as we are. Not sure EH has watched him as much.EH wanted Chris Mepham, but the recommendation last summer was for a young lad at Charlton who was rated higher by the head of player recruitment at the Vitality.That man is no longer there, but now at a North East Premier league club who play in black and white stripes.
Not to sure if players have to leave Bournemouth before players come in.
We shall see in due course...of course.

Slightly confusing. Does he mean that the Head of Player Recruitment has now moved to Newcastle? If so, I don't remember that happening. Who was it?

Or does he mean that player moved to Newcastle? I can't see any record of a Charlton player moving there in the summer. Charlton sold a CB to Brentford in the summer but I can't see any player going to the PL.

Given the rumours in the summer were still all around Mepham this doesn't sound very convincing.

I wondered about that as well, think they meant went to Newcastle in whatever role.

Head of recruitment at Newcastle is Steve Nickson.
