Tyrone Mings

Not sure 26m is really that much today.
If we paid 8m in 2015, is 26m really much of a "profit" in terms of today's values?

Not sure about the profit - although I would say it's very decent, more than three time multiplier in four years - but compare with £22m for Marco Arnautovic (sp?) and I think this deal gets put in some perspective....

For Gods sake! Is it £20 mill rising to 25.. or 26 mill.?
We paid 8 mill...so if its 20 we only make 12 profit.....and then look at what we didnt get for that money which was a huge sum for little old us...little old then.
So stop creaming your jeans everyone ..until we see what the money gets spent on!

Do Ipswich get a slice of the action?

I initially thought not, seeing as the ticket price was pretty high anyway. Checking a farmer forum last night they were talking about 10% of any profit, this was what they were saying at the time of the initial transfer so more likely than them just shouting now as it's a possible payday. So that's 1.8M for them if true

For me Mepham is still a question on if he can make the step up. Who knows if Francis will come back in any kind of premier league shape. He may never be able to cover RB and be exposed at CB like Elphick. Our CB options beyond the first two look weak to me. Happy to be shown wrong

If the fee is £20m rising to £26.5m then the sell on would only be £1.2m until those add ons were triggered.

What we don’t know is how our £8m outlay was structured. If that £8m included add ons too, they might not ever have been paid given how little he played. In that case our profit would be higher so Ipswich’s sell on would be higher too

I'll give you an explanation. He didn't fancy any more and threw the towel in. Looking at Tindalls face that day you knew he wouldn't play for us again. He has now apparently developed a habit of getting cramp when the going gets tough.

He's forged a decent career for someone who's only had to perform for a few months here and there over the years.

It would be nice to think that some day we will get a truthful explanation of what happened at Molineux last season.
He must have the lowest pain threshold of any CB i've seen.....crawling across the pitch from a bruised back lol.....i'd imagine that after being told by our physio [correctly] that there was fck all wrong with him Eddie and JT probably asked him impolitely to get up and stop being such a tart.

The words of somebody who has never had the misfortune to suffer with the problem of a trapped nerve in the back.

I suppose you thought the same when Eoin Morgan struggled off the field with a similar problem in the Cricket World Cup - only to come back and score a century a few days later.

It is the nature of that injury that it can come and go - sometimes in minutes but other times in days or months. Mings had missed several months the previous season with a back injury remember and I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

IMO at Wolves he just showed how poor his positional play could be - I still blame him more for that first Wolves goal than Daniels.

Would you pay £26.5m for someone with that issue though?

I like him, I liked him the whole time we had him, but whilst one day he would look like a world beater, too often he simply didn't fancy it, and yes that Wolves game was the final straw, at least it looked like it from here. If he can fix that hunger issue then he has all the attributes to be world class, apart from losing several years to injuries and not learning that lesson sooner

Wish him all the best, but 26M, not going to turn that down especially as it doesn't weaken the team

Some Aston Villa fans are talking the fee down to £16.9million as one page on twitter has quoted £18.9million and then they assume the £2million loan fee will also be deducted from the transfer fee... :)
