January Transfer Rumours

On the way home from the game Eddie mentioned a player had had a problem so they didn’t risk him, think he was referring to Kelly but just missed that earlier bit of the interview.
According to the EPL Injury Table Billing had issues in the warm-up also Kelly has had discomfort in his old injury too.

So he could have been referring to either of them, missed the original question from KT.

Also when I looked earlier today we only had 6 out injured.

Must have been updated.

looks like Books, king and danjuma are back in feb so that will be a big help once they get up to pace i just hope its not too late by then,. danjuma could be the pacy winger we need and the other two we know are huge losses and big difference makers

How do you know Brooks is back in Feb? Expecting him back in March tbh.

i fear you might be correct, we have missed him this season and i think he be great alongside lerma and billing

Danjuma back in late February? Seriously? I thought he was a lot closer than that. He seems like a nice bloke but it looks like we've signed another Stanislas here in regards to injuries.

Jack Simpson staying with AFCB due to injuries to Kelly and Mepham.[/QUOTE]

Sad for him as would benefit from more game time but right decision. At least a bit of January transfers news!

So this thread is "January Transfer Rumours". What worries me is the absence of rumours at DC. I don't believe there aren't players to be had, here and abroad.

Are Eddie and Co really convinced the present squad has the ability to keep us up? Have they been trying to find new talent? There's 48 hours to bring in quality - critically, in midfield. No incomings? ... it'll be a hairy run-in.

Don’t think going to get any one as where we are in the league and go down your stuck with move expense to try and deal with

Don't leave out Norwich - they've signed three and two have already appeared in the first team. What's most worrying about the situation at DC is the apparent lack of initiative. It's easy to say "tricky window to recruit in" but we've managed to be active in the past - and others are busy. Eddie's rung the changes umpteen times this season and we're in a major slump - new blood needed urgently! The worst that can happen is that the present squad gets some serious competition.

It’s easier to recruit when you’re newly promoted. Teams like us have spent the family silver already, to stay competitive for 5 seasons.
Newly promoted teams (who don’t overspend like Villa) I have a bit more leeway in the first few seasons to make improvements, as they generally are playing with what they came up with.

Our PL payments are basically spent already on wages.

Way off the mark, we received 118 million last season,
wage bill was 77 million.

If this is correct we should be busting a gut to find new talent, cos the present squad can't do the job.

Very worried about Eddie's efforts to shuffle the pack from week to week ... nothing much seems to work. Can we recruit without repeating the Solanke experience?? Surely there are tried and tested players we can afford.

It isn’t. Widely been reported our wage bill is £102m. Still makes us 16th out of 20 in squad costs, but basically the spending last January was actually this season’s budget but we moved when Mepham and Solanke unexpectedly came available.
