Steve Cook

You won’t get many, if any, CBs better thank Cook in the championship. With Brighton sell-on clause and us looking at only £4mil for him, makes no sense to sell. Worth that for 1 year and maybe we can look at a new contract if we get to the prem at the end of it.

According to the Telegraph a couple of months ago, his and all the other players’ contracts, have relegation clauses so Cook isn’t on Premier League wages any more. The only exception was Ake.

Maybe that’s what the “Stay Strong Lloyd” tee shirt was all about. Poor lamb can’t afford a new Range Rover.

If Cook wants a few more PL seasons he could be tempted? He would have to change his passing from defence to the opposition and practice booting it into the corners...

...if I were AFCB I would take 8-10 million for him and sign the lad from PNE?
 
Current rumour is Tarkowski may be off to Leicester for £40million so poor old Sean might have a few quid to shell out after all. Let's hope it isn't on Steve Cook.
 
You couldn't blame Cook if he did bugger off. He genuinely is a massive fans favourite yet for whatever reason we have never really shown him the love.

It would be a big blow if we lost him.
 
a well respected AFCB player who has had more highs than lows with us, I would rather he would stay but he deserves to have as best an end to his career as is possible (not sure that should be Burnley?)...only time will tell I guess what the outcome is...but JT would need to replace him IMO as we are not blessed with a lot of central defensive experience in Kelly, Mepham and Simpson..

I can't see this and really hope it doesn't happen, he's better off staying here. It can't be for money, I'd imagine he's on more here, even in the championship than they are prepared to pay and I think Burnley will struggle this season, although I think they'll have just enough to stay up.

Would imagine parachuting into a relegation battle to possibly worst team wouldn't be top of his bucket list. He's surely got to wait for one of the top half teams to have a major wobble, like Spurs or maybe Wolves to not put himself through it again so soon.

I think he'd probably prefer to stay here and celebrate a SECOND promotion to the Premier League. It's more of a challenge and more of an achievement than spending another season or two in the PL just trying to avoid relegation.
Unless he is offered a big pay rise I think he'd prefer to stay with us and be a part of something special ( again ! ). He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who feels his talent is being wasted in the Championship ( he is not in contention for England and probably realises that he never will be so the PL is not the be all and end all for his career ) but obviously money talks so you never know.
