Cameron Carter-Vickers

If you want an American get Reyna in Dortmund he is far and away the best American player and would single handedly take us back to the prem.

Ok. This lad has a bright future ahead, but currently he is a 17 year old who has scored one goal for Dortmund in 18 matches. How is he going to take us back to the Prem? (even if we could afford him).

I appreciate the confidence in our recruiting pull, but how do you plan on convincing Reyna to go from being a somewhat regular starter for Dortmund to come to the Championship? And where are we finding the £40+ million (minimum) to buy him?

As for CCV, I think he will be a solid squad player. I don't think he will be better than our current starting center backs but I don't think he's too far off and will keep us from having to play non-natural center backs if there are injury problems. All in all a pretty sensible move as it appears we are going to play 3/5 at the back this year.

As one of the resident Americans on here and having seen him in the national team. He is one of the slowest centerbacks I’ve ever seen.

As a counterpoint to your post here is some positive feedback from a Luton fan from the league we are currently in so possibly more relevant. The fact that he already knows Stacey and may have an understanding there is a bonus too.

I think you'll find he was on loan at Luton last season and Stacey had already left by then

The fact that our assistant manager has now signed him twice should give confidence that his strengths and weaknesses are well understood and an informed judgment about his ability to contribute something extra to the squad has been made.

Personally, I think it's great that we've got another nationality in our increasingly diverse team. It's a Sinai of of the times.

Completely forgot about the ex Luton link. Can only be a good thing

Have to also think at times where we play CCV, cook and Kelly at the back we will be a massive threat at set pieces . Then you add in lerma and billing and solanke and surridge .

Yep.....the last time we signed a Yank it went horribly wrong.

Came out on his debut at half time with a baseball bat.

Brent Goulet.

Fickle JCLs on here writing the lad off before he's kicked a ball, the same fans that were raving about Nathaniel Clyne when he came on loan and he was bang average. Give the lad a chance.
Wait arent u a JCL? My main issue with this is I dont think we need anyone at cb simpson should get the shout and if we are paying a loan fee then no we shouldnt have got him. Now plus one of our yanks doesnt rate him I'll go with a no.

Yes, he's in exactly the same category of some of our other past "foreign" players like that Irishman Harry Arter, that Scot Matt Ritchie, the South African Andrew Surman or our Welshman David Brooks.

Andrew Surman was born in Johannesburg and spent the first decade of his life there so he probably does count as South African. Mepham isn’t very Welsh though.
