I defend JT as I think he got a raw deal from the club.I do that based on his service and his results prior to hitting a bad patch.but in football it seems we are like every other club and results dictate and the people above moved to protect themselves when things got tough.as for Woodgate he has found himself in a position he never expected to be and has kept us in the play off places.like everyone I hope he keeps us there and brings us up.fortune has smiled on him and I hope he makes the most of it.

with JT he was unlucky with CCV injury and unable to use Pearson. He made the right call in regards to begovic but for me he over rotated. We seem to know our best 9 players at the moment which is good to see

We have had two uninspired, lazy managerial appointments by an inept board.

We have the best squad in the division on paper, the runaway top two have taken one point off us in three games.

Football is played on grass not paper.

One of those appointments has some managerial presence and therefore is able to get some semblance of team unity which hopefully will continue.

In August we were one decent managerial appointment away from 100m and keeping this squad together....

We might achieve this by default with JW but I’m not convinced if we did he is PL ready. Either way I think a new man will be sat in the hot seat this August. Hopefully they get this appt right although if Blake is leading it it put your money on Gary O’Neill, after we have interviewed two former superstar footballers.

Just to clear things up, no I was not complaining about receiving abuse, I couldn’t care less. I was complaining about somebody lying by saying that I had abused them, when in fact the opposite was true. Re my comments on JT, Jesus Christ people they were meant in jest. You don’t all need to get the pitch forks out at the first opportunity.

you have the temerity to call JT a clown? Just look at yourself in the mirror. :eek!:

With JT, it's easy to forget that it was he who brought JW in, he who brought Pearson in etc. We obviously don't know what affect JW would have had if he was only assistant manager but JT had obviously identified some areas needing change. I still can't believe the board signed off on those decisions but didn't give him a chance to enact them.

The jury will always be out on JT because he simply wasn't given enough time. With JW my feeling is the same (playoffs or no playoffs) unless or until the board is prepared to give him a season or two to show us it's more than just a new manager bounce.

Agree with your post. We will never know whether JT would have been a good appointment or not and the same for Woodgate.JT started great and hit a bad run, brings in Woodgate only on recommendation and because Jones went (so mot planned)signs Pearson and long and then get sacked.board don't get the manager they had in mind and suddenly Woodgate goes from out of work to number 2 then number 1all by default. He has steadied things down and now needs supporting to hopefully bring us back up.wouldnt judge him until he on as at least a season in charge but like JT I don't think he will get that if we don't go up.so jury is out on both.JT may get his chance at Sheffield next season if he is not with Eddie.people who should have gone are still there.

I cannot agree with the posts that we played some great football under JT and it's boring now. Yesterday's was far from boring.

Give me a settled team playing 4 at the back with overlapping fullbacks over JTs formation and personnel changes every week. The guy switched to 4 at the back in a game to make us look world beaters, then returned home to start 5 at the back again. Some of JTs decisions makes you think he didn't want to stay in the job. I honestly believe he wanted to prove his method was different than Eddie and he decided to die on that hill despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.

You are 100% spot on. How anybody can favour JT’s three at the back over what we have witnessed under Woodgate is a total mystery to me. JT’s master plan was, ‘we have good attackers so throw as many defenders onto the pitch as we can and we will probably win games.’ He pretty much said as much in interviews. He was totally out of his depth and even when winning games at the beginning of the season the football was generally dire, and we were being dug out by moments of individual quality. He completely underestimated the challenge that this league poses, that you need a good team to do well not just good individuals. For the amount of experience he has at this level that is unforgivable. Had we appointed anybody virtually competent who would just keep things simple and focus on what we are good at (attacking) then we would have had a very real chance at the top two. The board got what they deserved tbh as anybody could see from a mile away that it was a disaster waiting to happen.

JW has had 4 wins on the trot now, see if it becomes 5 on Tuesday.

The last time we had a winning run like that was 2014-15 season in the Championship. We had a run of 6 wins between October and November.

2013-14 in the Championship, a run of 5 wins between March and April, the same time as this season.

Have to say a massive well done to Woody.....he now has the same number of points from his first 13 games as JT did.....incredible stuff.

You could set a side up with 8 or 9 attacking flair players to make it entertaining to watch, but it would fall apart and wouldn't be at all entertaining. What makes football good is link up play between talented players, who know each other and want to win with and for each other. Throw a few flair players into that mix and you're onto a winner.

IMHO the brand of football is broadly equal with JW as with JT. For all JT's pretty passing around the back (and it looked great on occasion, as well as scaring us to death) it was rare to see players break the lines. You wouldn't see full backs used going forwards, you wouldn't see midfielders breaking into the box.

JW is more direct certainly, there's less passing on the deck especially round the back. But we throw one or two extra bodies into attacks. We break lines more and get more linkage between departments. Throw in a few good results most importantly, and yes of course it becomes good to watch.

Neither JT nor JW are tactical wonders reinventing the footballing wheel. But for most games at this level with this squad we don't really need that. We just need a structure from the manager and the right attitude garnered from the players. We've had more of that lately, let's hope it continues. There are some tough tests to come.

...this is becoming quite tedious; yet another irrational, expletive-ridden, rambling attention-seeking post that contributes nothing...

If it was attention seeking...it achieved its purpose haha...heat-seeking missile even...ye Gods I really am worried about the sensitivity of modern day ' Brits '..
..you just cannot say anything now...such is is the snowflake fraility of our citizens!
What the Hell has happened since we took out Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito and Tojo in 45...and we hacked coal out from the ground to fuel our trains and build our Economy...we didn't do it sat cowering like pansies in stiff wind or mincing around Westbourne or Ringwood carrying Manbags containing Liberal Party Dogma Pamphlets
.. we have to educate our descendants to attain the tough character of our antecedents...otherwise we get rolled over time and again by Any rapscallions with a Notion of Power....such as Guy the Belgian EU Bully Boy !
You want ' ramblings'...that are a tad more rational ?...then I can rustle up some pearlers if I prepare my focus and fine tune my impulsive bazookering!
Man Up..Great Britain...Grab the World by the Goolies!
You wanna side step my 'Tedium' and get some attention for yourself...well then get deep into the Orange...Beyond the Pith ..set down something with a pair of boll√cks that can pierce the boredom!

It would be interesting to hear from the JW detractors what exactly he would have to do to win their approval.

Not the old bollux about 'playing the Bournemouth way' but hard, concrete stats that would allow you to say he'd been a success.

N

Sun tanned clown??? The incredible years of service he gave our club and you call him a clown?? Take a look in the mirror mate
Is he any different to Blake and Mostyn, in that he got lucky that Eddie came along? Look at his record at the club in both stints without Eddie. Both coincided with a period of dour football with three at the back. Anybody else remember the magical duo of JT and Jimmy Quinn? Eddie is exceptional, JT got lucky that he was in the right place at the right time.

Interesting concept, ask people why they hold their opinion but don’t allow them to hold said opinion.

We got lucky with Eddie. First time round.
He was the cheap option at the time.

I am far from sensitive and in most respects I couldn’t care less what people write. But you’re missing the point, you have become repetitive and tedious with a tendency to use expletives that appear to have no relevance (rather like children do when they first learn these words). It’s boring.

So the inference here is that Eddie put up with Jason all these years. Not only is that naive, but you clearly misjudge the ruthless side of Eddie. And if JT is as useless as you intimate, why would a PL approach/offer him a role.

1- Eddie liked to do things his own way, to be in complete control. Jason was perfect for him because he was a ‘yes man.’ Just grateful to be in the position.
2- because he is mates with the Sheff U CEO.
