Arnaut Danjuma

Good luck to him. Despite his obvious talent I always found it quite hard to warm to him to be honest, I always felt as though he was playing for himself rather than the club. Very good player at championship level though. Think he will struggle at the top level however. I also find this tag of being a ‘champions league pedigree player’ quite amusing, Celtic have played in the champions league before so I suppose that their players at the time were also champions league pedigree lol very good championship player but not nearly as good as he believes he is.

Our record with injuries has been absymal. Examples of players he deemed could carry on but then were out for months… Parker got shot of Hard and the crew we have had presiding over fitness and injury issues for years. Maybe Danjuma not that silly after all.
I always found it a bit worrying that Steve Hard on more than one occasion deemed it fit for a player to continue playing despite rupturing their ACL.

‘He will be very quickly forgotten which won’t suit his ego that doesn’t match his talent’

I just don’t understand why that was necessary about a bloke who always gave his all and scored some brilliant goals as well as doing excellent stuff with charities and was respectful to the fans. It’s just so modern Britain social media…. I thought you were much better than that so my opinion of you is not what you think!

I don’t usually get involved in “forum beef”, but do you not think it’s hypocritical to insult people for little reason, given the reasons why you said you took a break from posting on here?

I completely agree with you on Danjuma. I wish I could’ve seen him live last season; but I feel like you could have said the same things without the insults.

Tbf I made a similar point. More a quirk of his pandemic influenced time here than anything about his personality but I do think he's a player many will forget quite easily.

It’s hard with text to portray what you mean. The first paragraph to DJ about positivity etc was tongue in cheek and the pathetic comment was about the argument not the person. Me and DJ go back a long way on here and despite vigorous debate have got a lot of time for each other. If he took that literally then I apologise to him as it wasn’t meant in any way other than lively.

I’m going to have another attempt at my post, which will hopefully be better articulated and explained rather than my initial rushed post.

I’m not responding to your personal comments, I’ve said for years it’s tiresome and I’d like it to stop.
So, as mentioned by others I’ve also struggled to find any connection with Danjuma. This is solely down to hardly seeing him play in the flesh, getting that buzz of excitement as he turned a player inside out in front of me. If I had, then I’m sure I’d feel less blasé about his departure.
If it wasn’t for covid and he turned those performances on in front of a big crowd, he could have had a real connection with the crowd and been somewhat of a cult hero, even after such a short period. Which would have far better suited his ego, he’s an ego player, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Is he as good as he thinks he is? I don’t think he is, but then again, that’s not a bad thing as professional footballer playing a flair player position. If he doesn’t believe in himself he doesn’t pull off the great things he does, when it doesn’t come off, he thinks next time it will...it’s part of what makes him the player he is and most wingers come into that category.

So we move on and think what it would have been like if we had seen all those moments and experienced them and the roar of the crowd and he leaves as a cult hero. That would have far better suited his ego, than the reality that is, due to it being the covid season, those individual moments will be forgotten by most. Nearly everything to do with the covid season will be a small footnote in the clubs history, because we weren’t there to witness it. Will I remember his goal away at Norwich in 5 years time for example? No, but I do remember Matt Ritchie’s against Sheffield Wednesday, because I was there etc...

If I’d have seen more of him I’d be happy to say whether or not that he would step up to the Premier League or not, as is, I don’t know.

So as it stands, a switch to La Liga where he won’t be overly stifled like he would in the Premier League or Serie A sounds like a great move. Somewhere to shine in most games.

If I’d have seen more than 169 minutes of him, 18 months ago, I may have a different view. As it stands I’ve seen more of Jaidon Anthony in the past 2 and a bit weeks...and I’d say it’s too early to judge him as well.

As for the price, it’s a profit, but not by much, but a profit nonetheless, maybe £5million that could be reinvested in the squad depending on whether we’re still paying off his transfer fee and how much we’re getting immediately from Villarreal, so I’m not expecting us to immediately go on a big spending spree on the back of this single sale.

You going to practice what you preach and stop gushing about players who did a lot less than Danjuma in an afcb shirt?

Maybe..but that won't include the likes of Gosling who did fine for us in the PL....
..I usually only did that when those players were criticised after giving 100% effort.
But then...your right in as much as we need to move on !

That hasn't stopped you going on about other ex players!
Do any other Forum Posters 'go on about' anything...or is it just me...interesting ...the psychology aspects and interpretations that abound on this medium....
I have a reputation for 'various' things so I guess I'll always get plenty of detraction...but hey ho it all makes for a reason to hit a keyboard ! Fun.

I'm sure they do. I'm sure I do. But going on about things that you complain about others going on about seems a bit strange. ;-)

Yep I'll go with that....and/but although I've got a good reputation in this town as a fine upstanding citizen...there are some that consider my manner and bearing ever so slightly 'strange' at times !

Just occurred to me that he might be switching allegiance to Nigeria, so Africans Nation Cup thing could reduce availability and value, but for him he would have much less travel for international matches, so Spain makes more sense?

decent fee for someone who didn't want to be here especially if it's all up front
should be able to bring in a couple at least with the money, no doubt the recruitment team have got targets lined up
happy days

Really like the guy tbf was a 'flare' sort of player we haven't seen at Bournemouth too often. Gutted I never got to see him live and wish we held out for a bit more money

Thats a much clearer explanation. I did mean my response tongue in cheek so sorry if it pissed you off.

...football is a business and if we can get upwards of 20 million for any player we are under pressure to sell being the size of club that we are...Parker is obviously going to build a squad that he wants anyway...
