It may be that Anthony did not cover for Zemura but I thought Cahill was chewing out Zemura after that particular episode.

I honestly don't know why people feel the need to decide how good or bad a manager is before they've had a chance to show what they can do.

I was hopeful about Parker but also concerned that there was some truth in what the Fulham fans were saying about him. Now we're a few games in I'm even more positive about both him and his squad but there are still concerns. I've no idea why Neil or anyone else would gloss over the concerning second half performances. I agree with him that as long as we continue winning that to an extent it doesn't matter but, as with Tindall, these negative aspects need to be sorted before they end up completely derailing our season.

You keep mentioning our strikers missing chances.....I know your memory isn't the greatest so I'll tell you again that we have the BEST chance conversation rate in the league....now let that sink in Neil..... currently we have a 15 % goals to shots ratio....which is fantastic.... earlier in the season when we had injuries we were saved by an insane strike rate of 25%..... I've not been a fan of Solanke but you can't argue with stats like that....he is currently easily the best striker the league.

You can quote all the stats you want but they are pretty meaningless without knowing how hard or easy the chances are. At Hull we missed loads of sitters, Solanke was clean through v Blackpool, QPR we should have been clear… Lerma should have shot first time on Saturday when the keeper gave it to him. I know you don’t go to games so you may not pick these things up on extended highlights. If you try 1000 shots from 40 yards you will take 0.1% of them. This stat is as meaningless as the possession one in terms of drawing conclusions as to what results should be.

Go back a season or two and we would lose or draw from a 2-1 position now we are keeping the win.
It means that we have seriously improved on how we can hold on and grind out a result - defensively we are much better
However at 2-0 we should be ripping into teams and going for a third and fourth and GAME OVER
That a PLAN for you !

Really?.....how many times did we lose a game after leading 2-1 in the 'last season or two'?.....how many times did we blow a 2-0 lead?

I just hope it's sustainable tbh.....the fact that after the Hull game we were bottom of the chances creation table and now even after 4 straight wins we're still 3rd bottom is a negative point ..... I'm a converted Solanke doubter now Rob....what's he's doing on the scraps he's getting is phenomenal!......:love:

I think Dom has been excellent this year and he would be one of my first names on the team sheet. He isn’t a natural finisher though, he misses too many straightforward chances although he is scoring some harder ones which is excellent. He works his socks off and is integral to the way he plays. It’s not down to him to score all the goals he just doesn’t have Danjuma/Stan/Brooks alongside him who are good finishers. Anthony is also excellent but not a natural scorer.

That’s why we are not getting clear and then suffering the ends of games we currently are.

The Fish fingers example made me laugh.

However, I'm not sure we are creating easier chances than other team - we are in 13th for xG scored (1 is best), and 20th (24th is best) for xG conceded. But there's only 0.04 between the two.

I'm putting our league position down to our better than average finishing! And some poor finishing from the opponents as on Saturday.
 
Is this basically saying we are a 1-1 team that is punching slightly above its weight in goals scored? I guess that would make sense with the winning 2-1

It doesn’t matter if you are the third worst chance creator if the chances you create are easy. Similarly if you create loads and loads of hard or half chances it’s not a lot of use.

Similarly if you make a defensive mistake on the half way line it’s better than making one in your owj box.
