Morgan Rogers

He started at Peterborough and lasted until about 60 mins at a guess. He didn’t cut it that night but it was his first start to be fair to him.

Did he? My main memories are of how they had everyone behind the ball for the whole 90 minutes and my lad couldn't seeing anything of the game as we ended up front row in the top tier with everyone stood up in front.

I can even remember the Nene Valley railway and the Peterborough Cathedral burial place of John Benson earlier in the day, but no idea who played for us!

So.. why did we bring them to DC...if they are not at least Championship level... yet they came from PL clubs...and now our usual Forum ' experts' can suggest that they may only be L1 standard...far down the pecking order in their respective playing positions at Boscombe.
What are Boscombe, Man City and Leeds getting wrong about these guys careers.
I can't make any sense of it.

Sometimes players just can't express themselves on the pitch/in a certain set up/at a certain club. I've not seen enough of either lad to really hold much of an opinion but they both seemed to be reasonably well thought of. I remember an interview with Alex Ferguson ages ago about either Kleberson or Djemba Djemba, shiver one it was he was saying that the performances in training etc. we're phenomenal but they just couldn't do it in a pressured match situation. Funny how it goes sometimes, if ability alone was enough, Ibe would've done well for us, there's just so much more to it than that.

Back on topic, I wouldn't be surprised to see Rogers' loan cancelled despite him being a regular in match day squads. We've for Anthony, Lowe and Stanislas (occasionally) who play in his position. We need some guile and goals from midfield, would be interesting to see if we're able to source that from somewhere.

There was talk from Alex Crook and others yesterday of Rogers having his loan cancelled, and possibly going elsewhere on loan.

Did anything happen in the end?

Can't imagine where Rogers would be in the pecking order now.

I believe he stayed with us.

6 loanee’s and 5 can be named in a match day squad.

I have to assume that Man City couldn't find a suitable club that would play him.

Can't really work out what has gone on. They rate him very highly and yet we haven't seen it.

Maybe he's happy on the South Coast and is happy to fight for his place.

Reality is you can’t judge a player by playing the odd few minutes of a game . Players need a proper run, something we were unable to do

Very bizarre situation. Can only assume that there is an OBLIGATION to buy him upon promotion. My good God, if the reported fee of 10m+ is accurate and we end up having to pay it, the guy at Man City who negotiated this deal deserves a knighthood frankly.

On current form/season yes. But he's very highly rated still.

I doubt there is mandatory fee built in, more an option. But not 100% on that.

If that’s the case I really struggle to see why he wasn’t recalled, the Manchester evening post reported the obligation, maybe they know something that Mcadam doesn’t. Doubt they are desperate for us to cover his wages lol

Why recall him? He's not going to play for them.

It was a transfer deadline day thing. It needed all the dominos to fall. Blackpool were linked with him. But that was to replace Bowler, who had been linked to us and others.

We were potentially offering cash plus Kilkenny, but in the end we landed Dembele so maybe didn't make the move for Bowler and so Blackpool didn't then need Rogers.

Yes, but regardless of whether he got another move or not, surely for Man City it makes more sense for them to have him with them where they can monitor his progress and he can play a high standard of reserve team football. Here he will be doing nothing. Why would we even bother to play him in the reserves? Absolutely no benefit to us.

He’s not in our 25 man squad, he isn’t going to play for us. Surely in terms of protecting the player and monitoring his progress, he would be better off back at Man City. He’ll get more out of playing Premiere league 2 (or whatever it’s called) football and training with world class players than he will from sitting on his **************** here. Surely that’s a no brainer?

Perhaps, but they probably wanted him to move and are still trying. Presumably they can recall him at any point by agreement but in the meantime they might as well let afcb pay his wages.
