Non - What to watch?

I know it's not new, but I've just re-watched the brilliant first series of Fargo on Netflix, with Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman as the main characters. There's 4 series in total, the story lines don't carry over, so any series can be watched without committing to 40-odd episodes! Also, with a new (and final) series due to be released this year, it might be time to get back u to speed with Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel (although it was obviously made later). Best Netflix show ever in my opinion!
I think we are on the same page here. Better Call Saul has one of the best casts I've seen and great story telling. Fargo is so good too. True Detective is also an amazing set of separate series. Really good plots and characters throughout. Recommended.

Watched the first two episodes of Gone For Good, again Harlan Coben on Netflix.

After coming back from a cold Dean Court, this series is set in Sunny Nice, it’s French so subtitles.

So far so good, another mystery.
Couldn't get into that Coben series, we switched off after maybe 3 episodes. Not sure if it was the dubbing or what that held us back, but the pacing felt all over the place and I couldn't care about the characters. Hope you like it though!

I like the look of the new Netflix film Munich - the edge of war “ , based on Robert Hariss's superb novel Munich , about the build up to and consequences of the Munich meetings in 1938 deciding the “ Czechoslovakian question “ .
Utterly compelling period of history .

This has subtitles which makes it better.

Seen episodes 3 and 4 and now one more to go.

Those two episodes explain a lot more about what happened to the characters from opening episodes.

Probably the previous series set on home soil (The Stranger etc) with actors known to UK audiences make a difference.

The best French series my wife and I have seen so far is Spiral (Engrenages), 8 series.

What's the 3rd season of TD like? First season was up there with the best, 2nd was decent. Highly likely recommend them if you haven't watched them yet.

Having seen belting reviews for season 3 of Succession, I thought I needed to find out what the fuss was about, so I started watching it (on Sky Atlantic) a couple of weeks ago.
watched S3 finale last night.
What a series - absolutely magnificent. Gone straight into my top 5 shows ever - and the last episode of season three could possibly be the greatest hour of television that I have ever seen.
The acting is exemplary - the scripts are sharp as a tack, and hilarious.
Rotten Tomatoes gives Succession 94% -I cannot understand why they have scored it so low. For me it’s the nearest thing to a 100% that I have seen.
A cast iron must watch.

This Is us has just started a 6th season. I think on Prime. Have enjoyed all of them so far.

Film: The Father with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman is excellent.

Anyone managed Anne yet? With Maxine Peake? I watched 10 minutes and found it hard.

Yes, I've watched Anne. I thought it was a very well put-together piece of work. It's hard to say you've "enjoyed" something where the topic is so sensitive, but it does highlight the all-consuming way in which she dedicated her life to the quest for justice very well. I'd recommend it.

I'll definitely watch it. Just really tough, and close to home, subject matter.

Not seen Trigger Point yet, but found this bit from the Guardian review, it also gave it 3*. The Daily Mail gave it 5*.

It’s great fun as long as you set your preposterousness levels to “high”. Go in thinking CSI: Peckham or Line of Bomb Duty or Bomby McBombface, rather than The Wire But With Actual Wires or Breaking Explosively Badly and you’ll enjoy yourself a lot more.

As with each of the TD tales it's totally different from predecessors but great, challenging TV. Doesn't out perform S1 or S2 but a great romp nonetheless.

I've been pumping Succession on here for a couple of seasons now. So I will refer you to Billions, which also has a great cast, people you will love to hate, and Machiavellian plots.

Watched the first 2 of a 6 part documentary called I Sniper - The Washington Killers. On Channel 4. It tells the story of the 2002 Washington serial killers. It put the State into an atmosphere of total fear as no one knew how they killed or who the next random target was. I thought it was brilliantly done with huge amounts of original footage. The part that has drawn controversy is that a lot of the commentary running alongside the film is from the guy that actually pulled the trigger time and time again. I recall it at the time but had forgotten just how many they shot and how long they went on for. It all started across in Seattle a while before they arrived in Washington. Hope they can maintain the series quality for the next few parts. Not to everyones taste I know but it found it fascinating and horrific.

Work colleague moved to Washington just before it started. Took him a while to settle in, moving from sleepy North East Hampshire into that environment, and living close to a couple of the shootings
