Lewis Cook

You bring Kilkenny up and say you would have played him ahead of Cook. Kilkenny was at fault for the goal in the cup, his passes were wayward and his control of the deep midfield has not been up to it recently when hes had the chance.

Its easy to dismiss a tackle on the edge of the box, clearing up danger and making things look easy. I think you do a disservice to Cook to suggest he didnt play well until late or that Marcondes played better in the time he was on the pitch. Its all about opinions, we see what we see.

I think that alongside Travers, Lewis was the reason we were still in a position to win in the 95th minute. Some of his work in the box to then bring the ball out and set up attacks while surrounded by tangerine shirts was prime Cook.

Kilkenny is a massive talent. His passes are incredible but he's not ready to be the lone deeper midfielder, simply because his defensive capabilities aren't are to scratch yet. He needs a loan next season wherever we are. He was culpable against Derby and Coventry as well as I remember. BW was not an isolated incident.

Kelly doesn’t command the players and defence like cook does. 100% agree

Yeah Kelly doesn't have as much of a presence. I remember watching an interview with Lewis when he was 21-22 thinking that he was very mature as well.

100% agree. Used to captain England under 21, didn't he? When we sell Kelly, hopefully Lewis will stay and be our captain.
Who we going to sell him to, surely any Premier league team would get fed up with his sloppy wasteful passing?

Eh? We win so we don't talk about this?

It's shocks me that a club and fanbase that birthed Eddie Howe and benefited from his eye to detail and never being happy gets so upset on a message board by an observation, made at half time by the way, about the captaincy.

It's actually hilarious how some people come on a message board and don't actually want to discuss performances. The "look at the table" posters are getting pretty tiresome to be honest.

How is this a negative thread? I'm reading as lots of positives why Lewis should be captain. I think some you will always look for a negative in every thread. Kelly isn't a leader. He doesn't shout and organise like a captain should. Is that slagging the player off in a negative way ? It's making an observation that may actually improve his play if he doesnt have the captain role.

Captain is completely irrelevant in football. If Cook is a leader he'll lead with or without the armband.

Lol, have a read through it again. People are entitled to criticise... So try not to get upset about it.

I just think its odd that the guy leading on the pitch isnt the captain.

Cook's been excellent past couple of games, fair play to him. But he's had many many games that completely pass him by. Needs to show it consistently against the top sides.

As for captain, I couldn't give a toss personally.

You're right that when he came back from injury, he wasn't great. Then he was played as a more attacking midfielder, which just wasn't him. Hopefully, he can be played as a deeper midfielder and maintain his form.
