Thoughts v Reading

Take this or leave it but.....we have built these players up to be something way better than what they actually are...so whether we get into the PL or not...simmering under the surface is another Matt Ritchie situation.....players wanting to turn out Every Week in front of larger crowds for a bigger club....
They have picked up the lack of ambition by the club heirarchy ; the abandonment of the new Training Ground, NO talk or plan of a new bigger ground or even some increased capacity.

Maybe they read the Forum, maybe not, but the vibes from fans get through to them somehow, you can bet on that.
Severe negative stuff about the manager doesn't help.

At the least end of their focus, they see themselves at Leicester, Newcastle, Wolves, or Villa ...even Saints.. etcetera....a couple of them are in Paris, Madrid or Old Trafford.

Elitism and Hype....and that's what you gets!
They are only as good as their performances are revealing...Nothing else !

Talking sh*te am I ?........:Fingers:

look not totally sticking up for Kelly, well I am a bit . In the first half Phillips with the ball ignored lermas runs every time to eventually play the ball to Stacey or the 50 yard cross diagonal to Anthony attempt .
With 2 x men static , and only solanke up top, the set up is completely wrong .
Even when we do get the ball forward outside, we barely have an options in the box.
How many times did one single player attempt to go beyond Solanke ? No once .
For me also Lerma looks a little lost playing beyond the ball and not quite sure where he should be running
This set up is kiiling us . In this league we could play a 442 and I would swear we would create ample of chances and win more games with the players we have .

Reading make it 1-1 . So we make a change . The change is like for like .
I stated earlier , Parker sitting in the crowd high up, surely must have seen this set up doesn’t work
This .

Strange thing is I don't this is an unlikeable team (like a lot of the relegated team became).

Christie, Solanke, Lerma, Stacey, Cook, Travers, Anthony all put in an absolute shift week after week. I don't think it's a bunch of prima donnas, it's just the formation and the tactics are all wrong and seems to be finding a way to get the worst out of a very talented squad.

I'll take anything over Parkerball right now. Even 90 minutes of the balls to the wall kamikaze formation we ended with against Blackpool: Lewis Cook at CB and a front 5 of Cantwell - Nat Phillips - Solanke - Lowe - Dembele

OK we are second in the league with games in hand over just about everyone and their dog. Do we really deserve to be there? I'm tending to think not, we have been fortunate that teams who have been on good runs and start tailgating us for second place have had periods of poor results and fallen away. We can't rely on other team's results to keep us where we are, we need to play looking as if we really want that second place.
We are not fortunate to be there after this amount of games. Our issue though is how many points we collected in 2021 v how many we collected in 2022. And we are still playing in 2022.

I know there are some on here who take great delight in visiting other teams boards after they’ve taken a hammering and I’m sure the reverse is the same. Fulham’s lot must be creaming their knickers at some of the stuff being written here.

Agreed. I don't think blame can be pointed at the players. Yes, they'll have off days as will the team The issue here is the tactics and the negative manager we have that is stifling the creativity and attacking nature of our players

We've sat back further than we did last night when defending leads on numerous occasions this season......the home game against Luton was much worse.....yet we won that so you and plenty of others on here defended that garbage as some sort of genius tactic!

No, only Coventry was as bad as yesterday and that was with ten men. Luton was a decent enough performance against a good side.

I'm wondering if an estate agent has been engaged to market the middle of the DC pitch? After taking Cantwell off, replacing him with a winger (Lowe) and shifting Christie up the field, it looked pretty vacant to me, apart from Reading players of course. Should've been Pearson and Marcondes from half time. imho. What's the chances of getting points now on Sat?? We'll see I suppose. Hope the 6 a.m. start's going to be worth it!

I think we'll win on Saturday.

Rotation? 8 players with 40 plus starts, one with 35.
Three games in 8 days on several occasions.
This is about players and fitness not the manager.
Why weren’t these players tired?
Tiredness is an excuse not a reason.

This season only 6 outfield players have started more than half the games, 3 with more than 20 starts. Most is Kelly with 25.
Some due to injuries, why is there such a discrepancy re injuries? We’re we just lucky in 14/15?

I was sat right in front of it, I thought it was soft. He chased every ball down and put them under pressure, forcing loads of mistakes. His passing was excellent linking with JZ, JA and Lerma. He had a great game IMO.
IMO Cantwell, JZ, Anthony, Lewis Cook, Philipps and Travers had good games.

The ref had already spoken to him, tugging back, clipping of heels with a player driving in 5hat position was always going to be a yellow. He then made another very similar challenge. It would appear he was subbed at half time to make sure we kept 11 on the pitch.

Early in the first half cantwell came short for a pass a few times when Kelly had the ball, ignored each time.

Not giving him the ball is fine as long as Kelly then passes between the lines into the space that Cantwell has created. Unfortunately, Lloyd seems devoid of any sort of confidence, is slow driving out and then stops. For me it’s that bit which is stifling the attack. Playing short, across, backwards, forwards is fine if it is done at pace as it starts to draw the opposition and create space behind. I’m less sure it’s the tactics rather than the execution?

Thinking last night after that performance, walking away from Dean Court, I'm not going to let it get to me anymore. Just expecting a top 6 finish but no promotion.
That's the only way I can de-stress the situation. I wish..
