Scott Parker

We've seen Parker change style drastically for small periods when he's had Moore available and on the pitch, which is interesting to see and not something we've had the option for until recently.

Had we had that option earlier in the season, then IMHO we would not have seen nearly as many grumbles about Parkerball struggling against the lower opposition etc.

What we all need to remember about Parker is that he is still a relatively inexperienced manager and is still learning. In the last couple of months we have seen a greater willingness to change formation and tactics, particularly with the longer ball from Phillips and Travers into the channel. And who would have guessed that when Lerma went off we would see a centre forward come on - would Eddie have done that ?

Very interesting piece. A strong end to the season. I'm sure SP has learned a lot about the squad as individuals. The character and commitment is there when it didn't always seem to be earlier in the season.

Biggest concern for me is the unforced errors we still make. These will be punished far more often next season. Good thing is we have several players with PL experience compared to last time.

For me SP has shown he can be pragmatic as well as stubborn. The team look confident and that gives me hope for next season.

Parkers reign here is very similar to his time at Fulham......dull football all season and then got it spectacularly right in the most important game of the season.
He said after he got relegated with Fulham that he knew what it would take to stay up next time so we'll see if does manage to evolve into a more positive manager.

Not sure we'll see a ny dramatic changes to formation/style, I'm quietly hoping our style will appear more open next season, due to most sides nor lining up in such an attrional way against us. Although I guess some may point to goals at home indicating otherwise...

There's not been many dull games recently has there? You should try and enjoy it more.

If we don't change this style of play then we're as good as down......we're not going to have the sort of possession we've had this season so being able to hit teams on the break is vital.....it's the only threat we have against the better sides.
We haven't scored a single counter attacking goal this season!.....i mean thats quite astounding when you consider how good we were at it.

That's interesting. Guess it depends how you define counter attack as I can recall goals with other teams back peddling and us putting it away.

Define Dull? Sure there’s been a few crap games but on the whole I wouldn’t describe us as dull….you’ve been anti Parker all season. Are you acknowledging he actually got things right this season or counting the days until you can call for his head again?

I seriously suggest you get over from Ireland for a game in the PL - watching from a far obviously isn’t giving you the full picture and tickets for away games will be plentiful.

Give it a rest for a few weeks. Please.

It's a stat Kris Temple came out with.....a counter attack is winning the ball from an opponents attack in our half and then 3 or 4 passes later we've scored....think Danjuma in the play off semi final first leg.

I think we definitely need more 'genuine' pace going forwards, that's for sure.

Part the reason I was excited when we signed Demebele, but he didnt feature as much as expected. Definitely need pace as an outlet imo, as don't think we have many above average quick players in the squad at present. Dembele and zemura only 2 I can think of.

Pace can give you that threat of a breakaway goal, whereas unless you have top notch technical players relative to division, can end up struggling to score as frequently as needed. We had plenty of pace under howe. Strong physical attributes can give you a chance against superior ability teams.trying to outplay them technically is likely to end in tears.
