Marcus Tavernier

I wouldn't swap Stacey for Taverier tbh......Stacey performed extremely well for us in the PL.....Tavernier is moderate even at Championship level......he's just had his best season scoring 5 goals!......I mean we desperately need to add goal scorers to our team.....he isn't one.

For one reason or another Stacey hasn't come on for us.

I always rated him and think he needs a run of games to become quite a player.

Unfortunately he won get that run of games under Parker.

Can see Howe sniffing around as a cheap gamble.

John Swift and Rothwell would be great business because they are free transfers and a cut above championship level. There's been no rumours about Swift from KT or any media (that I'm aware of) so I think he is just a class player who everybody wants.
I watched Middlesbrough about 5 times this season, and for me Tavernier stood out as their best player each time, especially against premier league opposition in the cup. He is the sort of player who makes things happen drives/bombs forwards and switches the momentum in games. I rate him highly and would love to sign him as competition for JZ or Smudge, it could be he in the premier league we need advanced players to do more defensive work so he could play any one of 4 positions.

Left footed, been playing as a number 8, so sounds like cover or competition for Billing. He’s quite combative if I remember rightly, but doesn’t score many goals. Just checked and he scored five last season. But I also saw that he played in 44 league matches so his fitness levels must be good.

boro fans would snap yer arm off for 10 million for tav!
By the sounds of it, the majority of them very much wouldn’t!

Have to be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed by the link initially as he has never really stood out while playing against us. However the more I hear about him the more the prospect of signing him is sounding appealing. The general consensus from Boro fans seems to be that he is technically very good and that he will run all day long and covers an insane amount of ground. He sounds like an all rounder in that he can be creative and provide a goal threat and also is more than competent defensively. If he’s willing to run himself into the ground every week then he will do for me. He sounds like a technically gifted version of Dan Gosling.

Dan Gosling would score more goals tbf.....Tavernier is just a poor Ryan Christie.

I think he would provide cover for the Lerma box to box role, something we dont really have. Also wing back and wide left so adds competition for JZ and Anthony. Known quantity at Champ level with time to develop further. Ticks a few boxes for me, like it.

Christie is an attacker, Tavernier is a central midfielder. Different players entirely from what I understand.

I feel like Gosling only ever popped up with 2-3 goals a season in the PL but might be wrong.
I don't believe Christie is an out and out attacker tbh.....just as i don't believe Tavenier is an out and out central midfielder.....both players best position is as an 8 imo......two very similar players actually.....i'd much rather have Christie.

Best you check their heat map

Last time we came up, we bought a midfielder from Middlebro'. So by the " law of optimistic averages " ( copyright - table ) this one should be a bobby dazzler : )
