Why only up to R4. A rubbish decision.
But neither of them went on to win the cup, so it was all a bit of a waste of time really.
It just took too much out of them ….
If it had just gone to five replays….
Predictable but strange to scrap Round one and two replays when the PL clubs don’t enter those rounds ?
Sounds like it was just the PL.I wonder if those clubs had expressed a desire for them to be scrapped too. Perhaps it's expense they don't need/want. Doesn't sound like the fans have been part of this decision making process does it?
Funny thing is these top teams get to the final stages generally so surely they aren’t that bothered about extra games .The competition lost it's credibility when the FA let Man Utd jet off to Brazil to play in tournament. We seem to have suffered from persistent whining from top 6 managers about tired players. The competition has been watered down over the last few years and what was once a leading competition is now seen as an inconvenience to some teams.
When has Wednesday to Monday been a weekend? There are some good things in there. Having all rounds on the weekends, having a clear day of no Premier League matches on FA Cup final day… although a shame it’s not after the league season has finished.
Perhaps there’s more prize money available through the qualifying rounds and first round proper etc.
More guaranteed income for more clubs is a good thing, even if that element of a lottery win for an fa cup replay has gone.
Just looking for the positives.
