Richard Hughes

People don't really laud Hughes, they generally just point out that he can't possibly be bad enough to justify Neil's years long hate campaign. He did ok, we as a club went from strength to strength with him in the role and he operated under a number of different budgets and objectives successfully. Then he went to Liverpool. Clearly he wasn't that bad.

similarly with blake, if he's as bad (over-promoted, not my words) as he's made out to be, surely bill would have got rid ages ago?

the fact he's still in a job and flourishing speaks volumes

Who really gives a toss how he does at Liverpool? Hopefully he fails and makes their irritating, sanctimonious supporters cry.

Yes and how do you quantify if he failed, or played significant part? Obviously if they sign a load of weird players that fail to deliver I guess.

But similar to United, when Fergie left, its a big/tough job and they may drop off as contendors for a while.

Doesnt necessarily make it Hughes fault, and indicate he's a fraud/rubbish etc at what he does.

Has any club done well after such a long-standing and successful manager leaves? Fergie, Wenger, etc.

I suppose Liverpool themselves kept up their success in the 70s and 80s with new managers but that was with continuity behind the scenes, which isn't this current situation.

Yes, bit of a poison chalice situation isn't it.

I'm sure you can envisage the kind of comments in this thread over the coming seasons from some people though... ;)

Particularly if Liverpool are on bad run going into international break...

I find it strange Neil still comments about mistakes in our purchasing and laying that at the door of Hughes. Even if they were directly his choices, how on earth is he meant to be perfect? Who has ever picked only players that have excelled at a club? For each Ibe there are several players who have played well for us.

Various opinions around Richard Hughes going so I will add mine to the mix.

Transfers are always a calculated gamble some come good, some don't, some people settle others don't. Taking the recent purchases in the Foley era have they really been that good? A very mixed bag in my opinion and Bill may struggle to recoup some of the fees whilst others should repay a handsome dividend.

As for other aspect we still don'y know the "truth" behind Eddies departure and Richard Hughes and ano may well have played a major part. "They" certainly played a major part in subsequent appointments, and firings, which in my view have not been a success until the present appointment althoiugh Gary O'Neil achieved his brief and I sincerely hope he continues to succeed as he is a genuine type.It is all about opinions.

However there is also the aspect of his Big Time Charlie comments when he left for Pompey. He was only to glad to grab Eddies hand in due course ro come back as a player and then join the gravy train.

As far as I am concerned one down one to go and I stick with that view.

At the end of the season Hughes will leave and from what we have read taking two more from the recruitment side with him.

So the club will need to replace them to add to the team Simon Francis takes on from next season.

Bill Foley with his record in business by what we have seen is a shrewd operator and has already got some of his team at Dean Court, so Simon will probably get help building his team.

Good news. Expect to see Old Cherry back at Dean Court sat alongside Yems, with Gosling and Surridge back in the squad and AI suddenly developing a penchant for tracksuits...

I've always imaged Brian on the sidelines rallying the troops wearing a sheepskin coat and a small but healthy hard-on.

:grinning::love:

Perfectly healthy behavior imo. No idea why we dont see people walking around with their cocks out at football stadiums more often tbh.

Nothing sexual about it at all. I'd like to think one day we can have chats with people, read our programmes, chant etc with it flapping around in the open like a deformed piece of gristle, without people getting awkward or looking at it.

Nothing more unusual than taking your phone out of your pocket to check your whatsapp messages.
