Covid & Football

...but Covid hasn't been eradicated from the UK, which was your point. It is merely being managed by a vaccine. Covid, as with flu, will likely be with us for decades. As for lockdown, this has very little to do with Boris's stance, it's the data and scientists that are driving what needs to be done.
Cannot speak for the UK, but over here the scientists have been all over the place, with the excuse that "the data is changing". However, the politicos, more concerned about re-election than anything else, are hanging on to the "science" in an effort to deflect any blame, while using this specious data to make decisions about restrictions.

In the spirit of "good news", our Premier came out with a long list of new restrictions yesterday, including new powers for the police to stop people without cause to inquire about where they are going, and the power to issue a $750 ticket. Police across the province have stated that they aren't going to enforce these powers. The Premier now looks like the fool that he is!

Some optimism around getting English fans over to the Europa League final in Poland in late May, should one or two of our clubs get there. A 10k capacity is expected by UEFA for the final.
If it ends up as a Man U v Arsenal final, the obvious thing to do in this climate is to host the game over here. Also applies to the Champions league final should it be an all English affair.

Far to sensible to be a genuine option.

Also far too complicated I’d imagine given contracts that’ll be in place with the host nation.

Also, moving forward, I think 5 venues should be chosen on a provisional basis at the beginning of the season. Lets say, Madrid, London, Munich, somewhere in Eastern Europe and somewhere in the Romania/Bulgaria/Turkey region.

Then, when the two finalist are known, the venue that is closest to both finalists is chosen as the host venue.

In climate conscious times, little things like these, have to help.

Or how about, five prospective host cities are asked what financial incentives they can provide. Then those cities are ranked by the number of five star hotels, Michelin starred restaurants, escort services (ask Lord Snooty) and high end shopping destinations to keep the sponsors happy. Once that is done UEFA picks the venue which generates most money.

 That’s a tough choice. I wonder which UEFA would opt for?

I live in PA and while we were under restrictions until very recent Texas has been open for months with no masks etc and doing fine same with a few other southern states. the info has been all over the place from so called experts it seems now you can find an expert to agree with pretty much anything.

Not seen this before.

As it stands, the attendance for all three play-off finals will be capped at 10,000, as the Government will not increase the number unless the event is a formal pilot with a testing programme.

That’s a big blow. Not sure that guarantees every ST holder gets a ticket then IF afcb get through Brentford?

Also tight logistics IF we do get to final then given the game happens a week after Brentford away so need time for a ballot, payment and postage all before the saturday. That’s a challenge.

Maybe queuing at the ground again?!
