Joshua King

Aren't we alleged to have quoted Spurs £40 million this summer ?

Since then he has signed a new contract.

Now he worth £20 million apparently :yikes: :hihi:

King being sold to Everton for a mere £20million is a joke. This is the Sun reporting this so I doubt there is much substance. However the club would probably accept £40million but only if there is a replacement who is proven and in the same mould Eddie wants

...he looks out of sorts, think maybe Eddie needs to rest him a bit and play Afobe for the next game...

His 1st touch has been poor in recent weeks. Needs to be played on the wing or as the number 9. The number 10 position has just never worked for him.

sometimes that just happens to players. he was still effective.

...just think that Howe need some to protect him and stop the inevitable fan ‘witch hunt’ that could occur from his loss of form?

Listened to game here in the states as I was on the road all morning in between sales calls. The guys were hammering King for his repeated turnovers. Sounded like the Cherries really dominated everywhere except for the scoreboard. :fire:

It irony of this comment from the thread starter is brilliant.

...I really rate King and he is an essential ingredient to our safety....but he just seems to be trying too hard maybe?...and Eddie arm around the shoulder may help him at this point in time?

Poor season after a fantastic second half of the season last year. Would be interesting to know how badly he has been affected by his troublesome back injury.

The number 10 position has just never worked for him.

Except when he scored 12 goals in 14 goals behind Afobé as a no. 10 last season

He’s been disappointing this season like most of our attacking players. He needs to up his game as do those around him but once he refinds his form, fitness and confidence he’ll start putting those chances away again.

Except he was playing in front of Afobe...in the number 9 position....

And many of the goals were games Afobe didnt play in....

But apart from that... ;)

Afobé was clearly leading the line last season opening up space for King in a deeper position. It’s why he scored so many last season as defences hadn’t wised up to the ploy.

King’s playing exactly the same role this season but teams have now wised up. I’d like to see King play as a lone striker but playing King as a 10 is not what is costing us this season. It’s a combination of our style being sussed out and a number of players (King included) not playing to last seasons standards.

EDIT: From 1st March away to Man U, King scored 9 in 11 games. He played behind Afobé 10 times and Mousset once.
