Leicester City v AFC Bournemouth

Reading between the lines think we might see Tavernier from the start rather than coming on and in his last two games play catch-up, one game we did, the other we didn’t.

Speaking on the squad, the head coach provided a fitness update on his players, which begun by discussing the latest on centre-back Marcos Senesi.

The defender was substituted in the second half of Tuesday's 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Vitality Stadium.

“Marcos has a slight hamstring concern, but we’ll check again in the morning. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

“In terms of Illia Zabarnyi, he’s trained well for a while. Obviously his last competitive game was a while ago so that’s a consideration, but he’s fit enough to play a real substantial part if needed.

“Obviously the more we can work with him and get him up to speed, the better he’ll be. He’s in a decent spot though.”

O'Neil went on to discuss the remainder of the squad, placing particular emphasis on Marcus Tavernier, who returned from injury in last week’s 2-1 win over Fulham.

“He’s closer to making a start,” O’Neil continued.

“He’s had two decent sub appearances, so we’ll see how he is in the morning. We have people specialised in that area, so I’ll speak to them and get the advice. I’ll obviously speak to Tav himself as well and we’ll try and make a real good decision on it.

There are no defensive holes in wide areas because players don't stand still......the two defensive midfielders fill those holes and one of them will slot into the back line as an extra CB when needed..... it's just a very fluid system.....Man City are playing a version of this now where one of the CBs steps into midfield to form the 343 formation.... in fact this often transposes into 3241......you have to stop thinking in straight lines.
I admire your thinking in comparing a Bournemouth side fighting to survive to a world class side managed by a world class coach.
And I certainly don’t think ‘in straight lines’ - simply aware that we have had significant problems when teams create a 2v1 in wide areas. Billing, Rothwell and Brooks do not have the legs to go from in to out to cover those gaps.

We're on our way, we're on our way: )

Two Riverside Rockets full, after we've collected the fully refreshed and rested Rob Trent from Rownhams : )

Spring is springing, every thing in bud, sun out in Sunny Sunny Bournemouth, bit misty going up the Spur road. Hope we play at our best, get the 3 points and take a bit step towards playing Burnley next season ( oh what joy ) : )

Ps if by some fluke we don't win, it's not the actual end of the world, make sure you enjoy the day and the football is the Cherry on top of your cake: )

Wonder if Smith will do a man to man marking job on Maddison. IIRC last time he basically followed him all over the pitch, annoying the hell out of him and it worked very well.
Yep noticed that at DC and Maddison was totally ineffective and highly frustrated

Urgh. Vardy starting for them. Let's hope he doesn't get away with his usual theatrical collapse in the area which, for some reason, refs still keep buying.

No point hoping for a penalty for us, we know it'd take something that could be classified as beyond GBH for that to happen this season. So simply need to hope there isn't yet another one given erroneously against us.
