Lewis Cook

What is it about Afcb players and acl injuries.Has any other club suffered so many of these injuries in such a small timescale ?

Well i suppose playing with 10 men would hamper our chances of victory tbf....if one of them gets injured then i'd guess Eddie would look to replace them with someone else....i think thats how these things work....

Very droll. Are you suggesting a make shift midfielder be it a youth team player or a first team player out of position would be better than an England international playing in his correct position?

You probably are so don’t know why I bothered asking.

Look we have 5 games before we can make loan signings, we have development squad players who can play in this position who train with the first team every day (Taylor and Oboforth?), as well as Gosling, Surman, Lerma, Ake, Brooks.

It’s a major major loss but not, for me, the same kind of loss as when Callum was injured.
Don’t know if this has been mentioned but we have Tyrone and Simpson who could do the central defence freeing Nathan to move forward. Could be quite exciting.

We put in a couple 'unknowns' like Simpson and Rico and/or along with Mings....Liverpool will be concerned with Fraser, Brooks and Wilson. If the new ones click on the day with an element of surprise at the back Liverpool might not find answers. That's how giantkilling in Cup games happen....Milton G and Ian T. we're not ' known' by MU in 84! That, combined with the desire from fresh players can work. We are not expecting a win in this game after the loss of Smith and Cook. Liverpool could have minds on the Napolitano match. Someone due to beat them.....Us!

What may have escaped your attention is that we i.e. AFCB are in fact in the Premier League. We are not in League Two. Both Taylor and Oboforth, although talented, will not measure up to the pace, intensity and rigors of the Premier League. They are far, far too inexperienced to be effective at this point. With the games we have coming up i.e. Wolves away and three games against top six Premier League opposition we cannot start putting youth team players in the first eleven.

One of our main shortfalls is that we are not allowed to play in the Premier League reserve set up. This is why a number of our squad players are not match fit and sharp due to lack of game time. There is a difference between being fit to train and being fit to play.
Are you sure what league we are in? You say we will be relegated every season. Now you say we have to realise what league we are in.
YOU are one fool. Please go back to the Bournemouth echo and the local Torquay and Lincoln rags please.

They just want to provoke a reaction sadly.

It hasn’t escaped my attention. They train with the first team; they have been given squad numbers; they aren’t there for fun it’s because they are rated highly and there to be back up to the first team, so in hindsight, Your point is invalid.

My point is not invalid at all. With respect you appear to be blinkered to reality. These young players may train with the first team squad. However, the fact remains that thay have not had any actual playing experience whatsoever in the premier League with the rigours and intesity that it involves. Putting them in the first team now will burn them out and cost us results due to their lack of experience at this level. There is a vast gulf of a difference netween training and playing.

Are you serious? None of our players had premier league experience 4 years ago, that didn’t turn out too badly and ‘Burn them out?’ They are professional athletes....

I’m not saying start with reserve players I’m saying they are there as a decent back up if needed and it’s obvious Eddie agrees or they

1. Wouldn’t be training with the first team
2. Would be out on loan
3. Have been released long before getting close to the first team let alone train with them everyday.

In which case then, put in the two young youth team players mentioned in against Liverpool on Saturday and then you may wonder why we will be 4-0 down by half time due to being over run in midfield by vastly more experienced Premier League players. If it was that simple and it would work I am sure Eddie would have done this by now.

I just said ‘I’m not saying start with them’.

Honestly.

the Premier League reserve (U21) set up is not a particularly competitive league - after all Derby County are top of it.. That is why PL clubs lobbied hard to be allowed in the Check Trade mickey mouse cup to get a bit of tougher competition. Most PL clubs with good youngsters prefer to send their players out on loan so they get proper competitive football not reserve league kick arounds.

Agree. However, it is better to have 90 minutes regular football regardless of its lack of intensity than no game at all. This is why our squad player lack match fitness when called upon.

I am puzzled as to why you are being so caustic and confrontational. I have made a valid and reasonable point. If anybody else had made exactly the same word for word comment you would not have retorted. So it which case you are being personal against me. It should be you that should enroll on the Echo as that forum is full of people like you who wish to cause confrontation for no justifiable and apparent reason. The only fool here is you.

We have 3 PL midfield starters as we stand in Lerma...Surman and Gosling...the second half of last season we used 3 midfielders Cook....Surman and Gosling.....we were ok then...we're ok now.

In case you were unaware AFCB compete in the Premier League Cup. At the moment we are top of our group having just got a draw against Liverpools U21 side and having beaten both Burnley and WBA.

they also play regular fixtures in the central league and the Hampshire Cup.
I would suggest that if we can get a draw away against Liverpools top youngsters then some of our lads are pretty good.
