Non - Brexit

Interesting post but didn't we have a vote on whether we wanted an alternative vote system back in 2011 ? I know this is not proportional representation but it would have set us on that path imo. public rejected it by 2 - 1.

British politics is almost unrecognisable compared to then. How represented do any of us feel under the present system? Would they also get away with proposing such a crap version of PR next time?

Well he certainly won't be more business friendly, and I would venture to suggest that the shadow chancellor would put the fear of god into most business 's judging by what he has proposed at various times over the years.

Thought Corporation tax would still be lower under Corbyn than it was under Maggie? Please correct me if not true.

Also, what a shock to see the BBC putting a positive spin on Dyson sodding off. The leave elite like Dyson, Davis and JRM are just in it for themselves

Harping back to Maggie ? Blimey thats pushing things a bit as a comparison. Anyway she did bring it down from 52% that she inherited from Labour to 34% by the time she left power. It's now 19% and Labour were talking about pushing it up to 26% at the last election.

This still does not answer the question. Of course, you can always answer anything by asking if it is the same/better/worse elsewhere. This is merely deflection.

Why does no-one want to tackle the question of the democratic deficit in the EU?

Because no one understands what it means and whether it has a positive or negative impact on the quality of their lives .
The elected government and uk meps are paid to sort out this sort of thing.
Most people feel local and central government spend our money badly and still manage to hold on to power.

Quite possibly but views and voting patterns are pretty entrenched in this country - there was a large swing back to the 2 party vote last election, not sure it would change back very quickly while you have lightweights like Vince Cable and UKIP dying a death. Really cannot see either of the major 2 parties pushing for a change.a

A change to the voting system should have been the legacy of the coalition government.

I was excited to see a change and voted that way...but lost. Never thought for a second there should be another vote as that’s the general idea about democracy.

Still not high enough.

On a more light hearted note...if Dyson want to sod off, at least there's a growing and ambitious UK alternative.

Henry!

He seems pretty happy about the news too:

More profits being exported as the uk gets ready to take back control,

Fuller's, the brewer whose beers include London Pride, is to sell its entire drinks business to Japan's biggest brewer Asahi.
the Griffin Brewery dates back to the era of Oliver Cromwell, the business - full name Fuller, Smith & Turner - was formally created in 1845.
He said Asahi was keen on acquisition and the deal was well timed because of the fall in the pound.

What on earth has the sale of Fullers brewing business to a world wide Japanese brewing Co got to do with Brexit. Or perhaps when Grolsch (Dutch) and Peroni (Italy) were recently bought by the same Japanese Co that was also Brexits fault.

Not just the UK. See rest of para.

He said the deal was well timed because of the fall in the pound.
"Right now with the pound still very undervalued it looks to be a good time to swoop. The Japanese firm has been gobbling up brewers across Europe and elsewhere on major buying spree."

The unelected head of state rubber stamps her influence ,

The Queen has urged people to find "common ground" and to respect "different points of view".
Commentators say the remarks will be seen as referring to the Brexit debate, with MPs due to vote on the PM's deal for leaving the EU again next week.
MPs rejected the deal last week but the UK will leave on 29 March with no deal unless they can agree on a way forward.
BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell said there was little doubt the Queen was "sending a message".

It might pay for Jim (or Nina) to read the whole article before linking it.;)

It raises the question of who and what is being taken back under our control and suggests Brexit is an expensive side show in the global economy.
In or Out the result is the same.
